Expecting Arkansas' first commitment to go public sometime tonight. He's actually just trying to get a verification code for Twitter because he rarely uses it, but that's coming.
9:30 UPDATE:
Newly-offered Malik Chavis of Rison said, "Arkansas is where he grew up and that's where I want to be. I'm just going to take some time and make my decision, but Arkansas is home." He hasn't thought about a timeline just yet. The staff tried to call Coach Totty at Rison the other day, but Totty is the only coach in the state that doesn't own a cell phone. They eventually got in touch with him and told him they wanted Chavis up here. Malik said the coaching staff at Arkansas is what stood out today. "It's different than it was when Coach Bielema was up here. I like these coaches a lot." They offered Malik as a corner but told him he can play safety if it doesn't work out. My educated guess tells me something could happen pretty soon here.
2020 OL and Oklahoma commit Andrew Raym said everything he saw was beautiful. The highlight of his trip was getting a chance to learn more about the new coaches since it was the first time they'd met. Raym said quite a few schools are making a run at him despite his commitment. "You never know what's going to happen sometimes with schools, so I just wanted to get a feel for everything that's out there and whatever decision I need to."
2019 Collin Clay said the highlights of his day was the school tour, getting to know the coaches and putting on the "swag" gear. Clay said Arkansas is at the top of his schools even though he hasn't released his favorites yet. His father is 6-10 and doctors believe he could be that size before he even graduates high school. He's growing rapidly. He said he didn't think about committing and that he's still taking his time with everything before reaching a decision. Clay says he talks to Lunney every day.
2021 ATH K.J. Liggins called it a great experience and he enjoyed all the facilities. His highlight was trying on the uniforms and checking out the locker room. He's an academic guy, too, so that part of the tour impressed him.
2019 DE target Zach Williams of Joe T. Robinson said he always likes visiting Arkansas because they show him "warm hospitality." He's going to visit Alabama and Florida in the next few weeks. When asked about a possible commitment, Williams said, "Later on when I make up my mind, there's a high chance that I probably will be here. But I still have to look at other schools and options and I can't just pick right away." He said his father, former Hog Rickey Williams, said "Back in my day" and "when I was here" every 5 seconds.
2020 DB Myles Slusher said he'll be back for spring practices and that Arkansas made him feel at home today. He said the coaches came up to him like they knew him even though they'd never met.
Taurean Carter of Mansfield Legacy said Arkansas is definitely in his top group despite not offering yet. He believes an offer will come and said the Hogs have a strong chance of receiving one of his officials when that happens. The staff will talk to him more next week and visit him this spring. Carter said everybody's got facilities, but not everybody has coaches like Arkansas has. Carter has the Hogs in his top five.
Stacey Wilkins said Arkansas and Oklahoma are his top two right now. He is going to push back his decision past May. He may wait several more months now. I asked him about how crazy it's been blowing up the way he has. "I didn't really expect all of this. After Arkansas offered me, it kinda blew up from there. Now I have 20 offers." He mentioned again that he feels at home at Arkansas. He'll visit Athens and Oxford soon.
Hudson Henry said the highlight of his trip was getting more details on how the staff plans on utilizing the tight end. He also enjoyed getting to meet so many of the other talented recruits. "It really clarified a lot of things," Hud said.
2020 WR Jordan Johnson said he'd only been to Illinois before and said "Arkansas is a lot different than Illinois in a good way." Johnson said the Hogs are in his very early top "2 or 3" right now. He'll actually be attending the spring game in Little Rock.
Newly-offered 2019 OL Joseph Stone had a great visit with Arkansas' "highly-motived" coaches. Coach Craddock was the one that extended the offer today. Stone said Arkansas is definitely his No. 1 school right now and he'll make his decision sometime during or right after spring. Louisville is also in the mix and he said the Cards are his No. 2 right now. Stone's father also loved the visit.
2020 ATH Malachi Moore called the visit "amazing" and his highlight was the staff letting his 12-year-old brother wear a jersey and take pictures with him. Although it's early, Moore said the Hogs are one of his top schools right now and that it helps their chances with Myles Mason already signed.
Also, those studs from Tennessee that visited Ole Miss today will be on Arkansas' campus tomorrow.
