Per this preseason article by PelicanPreps, once #1 QB prospect Shea Patterson transferred to IMG Academy, Kelley became the #1 QB in the Bayou State. Michael Camese writes about Kelley: "I'm not surprised by his commitment to Arkansas, his game mirror's former Razorback Ryan Mallet: big arm, ball placement, ability to go through progression, and his height gives him an advantage against blitz packages. Kelly throws the deep ball really well (his receivers don't have to wait for the ball once they are behind coverage)."
