than it had to be.
* We ended up tied on the glass -- 37 rebounds per team -- but we had to play catch up down the stretch. We either just got outworked, or we fought each other and could not secure the ball. For the longest time, Trey Thompson was the only Hog battling on the glass, and that plus Hannahs going off in the first half helped us claw back from an early 12-point deficit.
* Moses Kinglsey -- with donuts across the stat line in the first half -- responded with 17 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 rebound in the final 20 minutes. He has a knack for going long stretches of being a non-factor, sometimes a liability, then turning it on and having his way at both ends. Glad he finished the game strong to save our bacon. Need him to crack the code on putting together 2 strong halves more consistently.
* Durham and Beard ... both really struggled for 40 minutes ... Durham finally came though with some big plays at both ends in the OT period to help us escape with a win. These guys have played enough basketball at this point to not make so many lazy, careless passes ... Durham has been slumping of late, and it's feast or famine with Beard every night out, so I'm hoping Durham's strong OT period helps him bounce back.
* Hannahs was unstoppable in the 1st half, but could not buy a bucket in the 2nd ... was 7-of-10 from the field in the 1st half, but missed all 7 of his attempts in the 2nd ... at least he went 4-of-4 at the FT line coming down the stretch. Bell knocked down some 3s, but going 1-of-2 from the FT line, blowing the contested layup after the steal (he was stumbling), then short-arming that 10-footer in the lane off the smart Trey Thompson pass all contributed to this thing being tighter than maybe it had to be.
* Another example of how hard we made this game were the multiple and-1 opportunities that we blew around the basket, missing a chippie on a foul and then missing 1 or both FTs at the line. In general, making FTs was a struggle today. Miles 0-of-2, Trey 0-of-2, MK knocked down his first 2, then went 3-of-5 including missing the front end of a 1-and-1, Bell 1-of-2 ... while, Ttecc had a 60% FT shooter and a 50% FT shooter combine to go 5-of-6.
* Trey Thompson probably played his best game as a Hog ... 2 points on 1-of-1 FGs, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 assists, and 1 steal ... he was a HUGE part of a quality RPI win.
* Arkansas won the personal foul battle ... we committed 18 to their 23 ... monumental victory there, IYAM.
* JW's slide continues ... he had a couple of good moments in the first half, but that zone swallowed him up like it did the rest of our guards there midway through the 2nd half ... I truly believe he is going to be a good player for us, but strength is an issue right now, and no issue is more glaring than that shot = yikes.
* Manny with his best game in a long time ... 9 points on 3-of-4 FGs and 3-of-3 FTs, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists ... made some good hustle plays on D to force loose balls and turnovers, too.
