Came away impressed with the win yesterday. Some people will say it's UTEP, but they were a bowl team last year and I believe they will be a bowl team again this year. Here are some random thoughts
- They tried to take our running game away and BA and the WR/TE carved them up. We took what they gave us. If we can do that this year our offense is going to be really tough.
- I like the way Collins ran the ball. His TD score was a thing of beauty the way he kept his balance.
- Secondary played really well as a whole. Tolliver had some big plays
- I saw Liddell miss a couple of key tackles yesterday. Hope he can get this corrected and doesnt make a habit of this.
- I like what I saw from RWIII - didnt fumble, should good quickness, and was shifty. I think he can learn to be more patient and set up his blocks. I felt like he made the wrong cut once or twice carrying the ball. Also on the screen play he caught it and just ran, if he would have set up that first block I think it would have worked. I think this will get fixed with more experience. Very common for a young back.
- Our TEs look awesome as did Hatcher who seemed a bit faster to me.
- I really wanted to connect on one of those deep balls to D Reed. It will come. I would like to see him be more that just a "go" guy though.
- I thought our LBs did a pretty good job filling the holes, there were a few exceptions but it will get fixed with more game experience. Where they really got worked was in pass coverage.
- Great adjustments by Rob Smith against the wildcat.
