1. We Hog fans have wished to get to this point where you are recruiting at the highest level but I am not sure we realized how tough the competition gets when you are at this level. Arkansas has to FIRST fight the home state school for most of these recruits (not just another school but a home state school and all that goes with that)
....If we get it down to Arkansas or Kansas St...or Arkansas or Wake Forest....we don't have much trouble but we are going against the BEST. Only the bravado of a Bret Bielema has gotten us this far.
....He hires coaches who think they are in as good a place as you can be and Jeff Long and YOU fans have provided Bielema with the assets he needs
2. As confident as we feel today on these recruits.....we will feel a lot different when we see these kids , next weekend, having a good time on their visits to places like Oklahoma, Alabama, A&M, Baylor, Texas, TCU, Florida, etc ...That will be painful for me
However, as I pointed out, this is the way it goes with the Big Boys.
......I just hope we are making other school's fans and coaches sweat it out over these guys being at
3. Every fan has their own mindset as to what will make this a success. I mean, some are focused on a certain player and what that guys does will decide if things went great or came up short.
....Example....if we have four DBs on campus, I would be freaking happy if we got any two.
....In the big picture, this fan would be very happy just to hear we got the two from Georgia that I have given up on (Cater & Pollard) so not everything is about JUST this weekend.... but firming up the visiting commits is also huge.
......Boateng, Heinrich, Harris, and Guidry are not signed yet (nor J.Jones & Whaley either) so they don't need to have any kind of bad experience.
4. Specific to today on campus.
....I believe there is a older prospect visiting that could be very big if something comes from that.
....I believe we are going to die a few recruiting deaths when we hear some of these names announce for other schools but remember, at least we tempted them to come here (meaning we can recruit with anyone) and remember, ALL schools 'lose' recruits. We will be so excited about the class we sign, we won't cry over the ones we do not get.
....I believe this group is bonding for life and would love to play together and we will see if some of them decide that is more important than some of their other options. I just wonder how our DC could sleep knowing what talent he had on campus last night. I mean SEVEN defenders who could make any coach look like a genius. Speed and talent
....I believe Cleveland may be hard to get out of the city. All these kids are individuals and see things from their own viewpoint. With that, there are reports that people around him might love for him to leave Houston and get to a place like Fayetteville with this staff and players. We will see.
....I think he is the perfect replacement for Reed. I see many similarities. Side note, Pollard would be like we think of Cantrell.....a guy that would move around to hurt and confuse a defense.
....I believe Fulton will go to LSU because it goes that way historically and because of dad, but I do know he loves the UofA, likes Agim and Whaley and has been somewhat recruited by Guidry, Tolliver and Eugene because they like him and Arkansas. It sure helps that we beat LSU and Miles is shaky.
...I believe Strong and Sumlin are going to recruit well and that both are desperate (as are their fanbases) ....I would not be shocked at anything they would do to get the kids we have visiting (maybe TCU and Baylor also but they are not as desperate to save jobs as the two biggest schools)
.....I have made this too long already so I will just say that I am so thankful to have lived to see a head coach at Arkansas that would recruit with anybody. Bielema likes the challenge of recruiting against the best, he considers it a game unto itself and wants to beat the other guys.
....Bielema has tried to do it the right way at Arkansas when he could have taken many shortcuts. I am all in with the UnCommon man deal because of what I see. Few legal troubles, kids being leaders like Flowers, Spaight, JWill, Henry, Tretola, Allen, Winston, Ellis, Agim, etc and the grade point going up.
......If you love recruiting you need to stand back and think about what you are seeing.Agim, Whaley and Jordan Jones could have named their school, yet here they are basically hosting recruits for the Razorbacks. I have never seen anything like this at Arkansas.
......You think Agim or Whaley are awed by a Brandon Jones saying he could go to A&M or Texas? They have already turned Texas down for a better situation so it is easy for them to sell the Hogs and ask for others to join them.
.....In a short time these kids will be going home from their visits and all will have good things to say and all we can do is WAIT but we will quickly turn our focus on the next weekend. Much needed help will be on campus on the 29th. Porter is a HUGE recruit and we can all hope the crazy tale of Daniels recruitment finally gets figured out and we get a super DT to come home.
....We always talk about running out of scholarships but rarely do,,,,so here is to hoping we really do this time because the right kids say WPS.
