Last week, a Memphis reporter reported that we had offered 2016 Eric Curry 6'7-8 PF Southwest Christian/Arkansas Wings. I told him that I didn't think that was the case, as it hadn't been reported anywhere else. Well, Curry's HS coach is saying that we have indeed offered. We'll see if it's confirmed; I expect it to be.
Curry is a moderately skilled, high motor and mobile big that produces right now via energy and persistence. He has some tools that could turn him into a good face-up big at the college level. Because of his production for the Arkansas Wings in the spring, he landed offers from SMU, Okie State and VCU, among others. He's a kid that keeps on getting better. It'll be interesting to see how his recruiting unfolds.
I would not be surprised to see us offer 2017 Daniel Gafford 6'9-10 Post El Dorado/Arkansas Wings 16U any day now. The Wings 16U team is 2-0 so far at the Nike 16U championships (called Nike Sweet 16) and he's averaging 17.5 and 15.5. Sometimes you see kids his age, size and skill level gain confidence and just explode in a short period of time. That seems to be happening with Gafford.
Another kid who I really like and is performing well alongside Gafford is 6'3 combo G Casey Benton from Clarksville. He's not exceptional at one thing but really productive. He's a bulldog. Very physical.
