Disclaimer: this is not meant to be a bash MA thread. I get he's the man at the top and must take accountability for this. CMA haters please don't use this thread as your platform. I hope CMA can pull us out of this and win at a high level
My main question is this: I feel like Hog basketball is done for about 4 years at a minimum, am I wrong?
I don't see how CMA can fix this quicker than that.
We would have struggled this year anyway but with the 2 going pro, 3 in trouble (1 now gone), 1 transfer and 1 not making it to campus, that has crippled us for the next few years right?
The only way we could come out of this is if we have a stellar top recruiting class next year, which is possible based on who we are after, but recent events will probably not let that happen. And as has been discussed we will probably lose the best player (at this point thru HS) to ever come out of this state (some debate with Corliss) I was hoping with Monk we could maybe land a Fab Five class that would want to play with him for 1 year. How can CMA answer a parent or recruit about this and convince them all is good with the program or that we will win at a high level.
Now throw in the fact that other school's in the sec are getting better coaches Barnes, pearl, holland, Avery, etc. and other schools are attracting top recruits and recruiting classes in addition to UK
This is the perfect storm to set hog basketball back another 4 to 10 years. CMA won't play the games in recruiting and he will have to sign athletic diamonds in the rough to mold a team over 3 to 4 years.
It just seems like we are starting all over again, but in even worse shape from a player perspective
Please convince me differently with some facts or logic. This has and is depressing me.
I know we haven't been relevant for awhile until this year but I grew up with and still believe this should be a top basketball program
