Arkansas has a large number of invited walk ons who eventually earn scholarships. By keeping your numbers flexible it allows for this opportunity. And by not taking chances on "borderline" recruits who don't pan out, it allows you to develop players without risking scholarships.
As for missing out on late recruits, it happens every year. You can't get angry at this staff for "not closing" at times. Recruiting is much more complex than we understand.
Criticism of this staff for their record is fair game, criticism for their lack of recruiting isn't in my opinion. I think they are doing their best.
