When you see these late offers, it's easy to jump to the conclusion of "I guess we're not getting so and so."
This is the annual reminder that you have to cover bases in recruiting, especially when your top targets are guys you're going head-to-head with the nation's best to get.
A new offer doesn't mean anything in terms of "so we must not be getting so and so" at this stage. For instance, I don't think the Giovanni LaFrance offer has a thing in the world to do with Dejon Harris. I think it has everything to do with Jordan Carmouche. Arkansas needs four LBs and they've got two. LaFrance is one they've targeted for at least 11 months, and now that he's checked off everything outside of football you see them offer.
A new visit invite (he hasn't been offered) to Joseph Putu has nothing to do with Kristian Fulton or Eric Cuffee or anyone else. Arkansas has been first to find many, many stud prospects. They don't always get the ones they're first on, but they are first on a whole bunch of them. There are a ton of teams that let Arkansas do the dirty work and then follow up with their own offer. It happens all the time, literally. I don't know if Putu can play a lick because I haven't had time to watch his film yet, but I could see them coming up with yet another good one that they've been sitting on for months. P
Just a reminder that what you see in the final two weeks was usually planned all along and most of the time is in no way related to any other prospect on their board.
