I swear I didn't take posts from the Bert and sub in BYU coaches/players names.
****

I’ve seen enough — Lamb is not it. Special Teams are garbage. Shoutout to Hobbs for a nice return but they are atrocious across the board and have been all year. Safety play is also very bad. I think we need to move on.
----
This team has a bad defense and horrible placekicking. I see two more losses with the remaining schedule. There is no moral victory in losing to 2022 ND. They are not a good football team.
----
Tuiaki and Clune need to get on the same page as to what on earth our LBs are doing. It seems like they aren’t playing in the same scheme as the rest of the D.
----
Not having enough people on the field or not knowing their assignment has been a problem all year. What is going on? It hasn't been as big an issue (but still an issue at times) in prior years - what is going on?
----
On 3rd and long can we do something new and unpredictable, like 4 D-linemen and put some pressure on the QB sometimes.
----
Things need to change before we enter the BIG or this defense will get eaten.
----
The problem as I see it with the D is a coordinator that is far too risk averse. Which leads him to put more faith in the DL than the secondary.
----
Safeties would be great with a healthy Moore and Harper combo. With Moore out, we are not good.
----
Hole #1 is run defense. It is the most basic defensive task at every level of football: stop the run. We don't do this consistently, and we don't make adjustments to force the issue. Hole #2: Third down conversion rate. We give QBs all day to throw. We consistently rush three defenders, who stay in the same rush lane and generate little to no pressure.
----
Our defensive line can bow up when it has enough bodies on the line as shown on Saturday. But the 3 man front just doesn’t work for a number of reasons. One our lb are slow to fill gaps. They are too far away to begin with and the gaps open too quick. This seems to be a scheme and talent issue.
Then our safety play is ridiculous. On runs they are too far away and too slow to react. On passes they defend turf, not the play as it unfolds. 2 over the top is a waste of manpower in our scheme with our players.
----
The loss Saturday sucked, and the game was there for the taking. I really like the overall trajectory of the program, but it is also obvious that some things are putting a ceiling on the defense by design and they revert to a mean regardless of opponent because the play calling sucks. When you repeatedly struggle on 3rd down and 3rd and long, and keeping doing the same stuff, you are dumb.
----
Get rid of the hockey subs and the goofy talk about playing your 3-deep, because nobody purposely does that. It's also stupid for Sitake and Tuiaki to keep saying "best 11" and then sub them out. Nobody does that.
----
Whoever is in charge of substitutions on that sideline needs to be let go. I’m sorry, it was just that bad.
----
Coddling the O is costing us big time. Especially with the D and philosophy they have. The O has to be more explosive and efficient. Hasn’t been in weeks.
----
I feel like most of my issues with Arod has come with the offensive play calling the last few games in the first half. Or the fact that when something seems to be working, we suddenly stray away from it or we try to get away from the hot hands. It's a recency bias admittedly on my part bc of our slow starts and firsts halfs just being miserable for the last few games.
----
Offensively, Arod calls too many plays with delayed action at the los. The 4th and one with Katoa was never going to work. I noticed Baylor does too much east west as well. There is still a lot of grimes goi g in in our offense which is not working with our weak Oline run blocking. And call me way underwhelmed with our Oline. What a bunch of bs hype that has been all off-season and for the first 6 games.
----
I feel like we reached a Bronco-like platueu with Kalani and his coordinators
----
With our coaching and our schemes, and our player talent and execution, we are not top 25 team. No way. Kalani has some easy/ hard decisions to make. Hard to fire friends but easy to see coaching changes are sorely needed.
----
You guys must not be very good at math. Go look at the average recruiting rankings of our opponents the last 5 years and compare to ours. We shouldn’t be able to compete with a team like Notre Dame. Go look at BYU’s historical records against p5 teams. It’s funny to hear everyone piling on the coaches as though they are the reason this team isn’t in the playoffs this year. The reality is you’ve chosen to cheer for a team that is historically pretty good, but not elite. This staff has in general blown expectations out of the water considering the talent level of kids they’ve been able to attract to the program. That doesn’t mean they are the best in the world, but double digit wins the last couple of years doesn’t happen by chance. The good news is that recruiting is improving because of b12 inclusion and because of recent success, but it takes time to get talent integrated into the program especially at a place like BYU. Think of good old Bo Pelini at Nebraska, or if you were unfortunate enough to start your college career during the Gary Crowton years like I was. The grass ain’t always greener.
----
Any buzz on coaching adjustments for this game with Arkansas? Kalani's frustration after Notre Dame mirrors what happened before Boise St in 2019, you think he'll respond in a similar way?
----
If I had to guess, you're going to see a very different defense and a very pass-happy offense. But that's purely my guess based on watching Kalani over the year. No buzz.
----
The sky isn't falling, gang.
----
Agreed, 4-2. BYU wins as it should this week per S&P and BYU is 5-2 and we're feeling good again.
----
Get past Arkansas and this is a 9-10 win team. We knew this part of the schedule would be a gauntlet. Most teams not named Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, have issues and have engaged fan bases are lamenting things just like we do.
----
BYU will have the altitude and the home crowd. They opened as slight favorites, but Arkansas is now favored by 1.5 points. Here’s hoping Sitake and Co. find a way to send the Razorbacks crying wee, wee, wee all the way home after a BYU victory at LES. Go Cougars!
----
Interesting that BYU opened as favorites, and that the line has shifted.
----
72% of bets on the spread and 71% of the money has been bet on Arkansas, which helps explain the line movement. The money line bets are even more lopsided - 84% of bets and 91% of the money is on the Razorbacks. The over/under has shifted from an opening of 59.5 to a current 66.
Based on BYU's 1st half performance the last several weeks, it's hard not to think of the 1st half spread as easy money - Arkansas -0.5.
----
Arkansas Offense:
Gulp. Rocket Sanders is without a doubt the best running back BYU will play this season. Strong, fast, breaks tackles, has vision. It's going to take a herculean effort to slow this dude. AJ Jefferson is another problem. Good runner. Good passer. Not sure how his return from concussion will effect his play but he's a very good dual threat QB. OLine is good. They have some good threats at WR. Arkansas wants to run on offense. Once they get that going they can hit you over the top. Lamb and Tuiaki are going to need to pull a rabbit out of the hat on Saturday. There are tough matchups all over the field.
Arkansas Defense:
Definitely a SEC type of defense. They have fast players and are very physical. Against Mississippi St and Leach they ran a Tuiaki inspired drop 8. That's not typical though. Usually they run a 4-3 and blitz quite a bit. They've given up a lot of points but to teams like Alabama and Mississippi State. They are vulnerable to the big play. You can find holes in their zone.
Outlook:
Watching Arkansas they look like they'd beat ND by 10. That being said being said BYU has some magic at LES. Jaren Hall needs an all time great performance because Arkansas will put up points. BYU in a shootout.
BYU 41 Arkansas 38
----
How are we going to score 41? Arkansas doesn't have a good defense but we haven't scored more than 38 in any game since week 1
----
We would also beat ND by 10 if we dont play our worst half of offensive football in a decade.
----
Arkansas has as many injury issues as we do. They are banged up like us. A stretch v Bama, A&M and Miss State will do that. The D is so banged up they are moving a WR to corner. QB hurt. So they have obstacles.
3 game losing streak but should have beat A&M. So fans are upset and calling for jobs. Sound familiar? But worse cuz calling for all of them right now. So they're in a worse head space that we are in.
They also have started slow the last few games. But bad slow. 28-0 amd 21-0 down in two of them.
Anyway, if BYU can get off to a fast start it would help cuz they are mentally down. If they start fast and we don't then they could get right against us.
31-30 BYU
