* The biggest development of the week was Mike Anderson and the Arkansas Razorbacks getting their first commiment for the Class of 2018: Fort Smith Northside / Arkansas Hawks 16U SG Derek "Isaiah" Joe, a 6-2 bomber who can light it up beyond the 3-point line ...Joe becomes the 2nd domino (2019 guard Justice Hill being the 1st) from the Hawks to fall in line with the Hogs, who are trying to lock up all 5 Hawks' starters in August if they can. Joe, yet to be ranked nationally, is probably a 3-star recruit ... he reported offers from Bama and UALR, with Stanford, Tennessee, and others showing interest.

* So, now we're down to 2018 ARHawks' 16U studs Desi Sills, Ethan Henderson (Top 100) and Reggie Perry (Top 100) ... do they announce in August when the Hogs return from Spain? My personal opinion is that Sills already holds an offer but has not announced it publicly, and that he and Henderson will commit soon. Regarding Perry, it might just be a 50/50 deal between us and Florida State. What a haul it would be for all 5 of the Hawks starters to commit to the Hogs.

* I think we can expect to see the Class of 2019 national rankings come out soon, and I fully expect Justice Hill, the 5-11 PG from LRChristian / Arkansas Hawks 16U who is committed to the Hogs, to be ranked a Top 100 4-star.

* We've talked a lot about the Arkansas Hawks 16U team, but how about the Team Portis Wings Elite 14U stars -- Class of 2020 studs Gerald Doakes (Jacksonville), Chris Moore (West Memphis), and Devonte Davis (Jacksonville). All 3 participated in 2 national elite camps this summer -- the Fab Frosh Top 100 camp several weeks ago, then the CP3 Rising Stars elite camp this weekend. In both cases, Doakes and Moore were selected to All Star games to close out the camps.

Today, Doakes led all scorers in the CP3 Rising Stars Dunk Dog All American game (representing players ranked Nos. 41-64 in this event, which had 225 campers from 35 states and Canada). He had 19 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in 19 minutes for the Orange Dunk Dog All Stars. In 5 games in this event, Doakes averaged 11.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 23.1 minutes per game, while shooting 58.5% FGs (including 50% from 3) and 100% FTs (3-of-3).

Moore had 9 points (4-of-5 FGs including 1-of-1 from 3), 3 rebounds, and 1 assist in 19 minutes to help the Blue Dunk Dog All Stars over Doakes' Orange squad, 111-107. Moore -- who is already drawing recruiting interest from the Hogs, Tennessee, Baylor, and others -- averaged 12.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in 23.1 minutes, while shooting a sizzling 84.6% FGs (including a perfect 4-of-4 from 3).

And Davis played well, too ... he scored 18 points in Saturday's late game, and he averaged a respectable 8.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists while shooting 47.8% FGs (including 40.0% from 3) in 22.7 minutes per game.

Arguably the best of the Class of 2020 here in Arkansas is Moses Moody, a freshman-to-be at LRParkview. After dazzling at the Pangos Junior AA camp early this year, Moody played off the bench throughout the CP3 Rising Stars elite camp, but ended up one of the most productive and per-minute-efficient players in the entire event.

He played so well that he was named to the CP3 Top 40 All American team (the Nos. 21-40 ranked players at the camp, which again consisted of 225 campers representing 35 states and Canada). In 5 games, Moody averaged 12.2 points, 4.8 rebounds (led his team), and 1.0 steals while playing only 18.8 minutes per game. He also shot a blistering 62.2% from the field (including 37.5% from 3) and was perfect from the foul line at 2-of-2.

Recognizing some Arkansas kids who have received scholarship offers: 2017 wing Jeremiah Toney of LRMIlls was offered and committed to UA-Fort Smith; 2017 CG Marquis Eaton, who held offers to ASU and Tulsa, picked up an offer from UALR; 2019 CG Isaac McBride of Baptist Prep was offered by UALR after the Trojans' elite camp this weekend; and 2016 PF / C Chris Vanover of Baptist Prep, the 7-0 brother of 2018 Connor Vanover who is 7-2, will play on scholarship this season at UCA.
