Please note this post is aimed at a few posters who've lost their way a bit or are new to the site and not the entire group of Razor's Edge posters who drive this website. I understand that this is ultimately my fault as publisher of this website for allowing things to get out of hand for a while. This is not meant to come down on anybody, just a post about what I expect out of this board.

For some reason this board was out of control yesterday and has steadily been pointing to a meltdown day over the past couple of weeks, and it's really not over anything big. I’ve never received so many complaints in a single day from members as I did yesterday. To those of you who wrote me, thanks, and know I have been sharing your concerns.

First, on flame baiting. When you come on a board of Razorback fans and start trashing the new coach, you are going to incite a riot and no set of rules I put forth is going to prevent the attacks on you. Sending the board into disarray is not productive. When other sites out there allowed a free-for-all on Nutt the last couple years, we kept it extremely, extremely tame here, so don’t give me the ‘Nutt gets ripped and nothing is done but one bad thing on Petrino and it gets removed talk.‘ That’s B.S. If it turns on Petrino in a couple years, we’ll stick to the same policy we did when Nutt was on his way out. Houston Nutt is gone. He’s not the coach here anymore, and there’s nothing that will ever change that. I’ve asked that people stop with the Nutt posts because it ALWAYS starts a riot, and while those posts haven’t stopped completely they’ve gone down dramatically. He’s not the coach here anymore, love him or hate him. And Bobby Petrino’s hiring at Arkansas had nothing to do with Nutt being forced out. He became the coach at Arkansas because there was a vacancy that he had nothing to do with, so stop blaming him for Nutt being gone.

If you’re going to post something on this forum that can be detrimental to the team, a Razorback or those closely associated with the Razorbacks, unless you’ve got some kind of proof please think twice about making that post. And if you feel you must post a rumor you heard, make sure you are not posting it like it is a fact and state it clearly that it is a rumor you heard. As for more detrimental stuff, ask yourself if you can stand by that statement if challenged by those people. Rumors are one thing (like ‘I heard Mickey is transferring‘), but a detrimental rumor stated as a fact is something else entirely. As for transfers, it’s not a big freaking deal it happens every year at QB. Robert Reid and Mike Cherry transferred because of Barry Lunney, Jr., Chad Jones and Pete Burkes transferred because of Clint Stoerner. Gary Brashears transferred because of Robby Hampton. Zack Clark and Tarvares Jackson transferred because of Matt Jones. Alex Mortensen transferred because of…I’ll stop there for obvious reasons. Guess what, all these guys had or probably had issues with something going on with the team, but their main issue was the guy ahead of them. More players will transfer this year. It happens. They couldn’t sign 25 every year if it didn’t. People are going to be unhappy, people are going to get run off, people who are wanted are going to leave. It happens. Yes, it is newsworthy, but I’m just saying QBs transfer, and it’s usually mainly because of PT.

If you’ve got an ongoing feud with another poster, I am asking that you take this opportunity to get over it and ignore the poster rather than chastise him. If you feel you must respond to him, keep it on his post and not on him. Someone’s posting information others want to read, you don’t like the way he goes about it. Do you have to call him a douche bag (or the like)? I can understand, ‘Hey, how can you say that? There’s no way yaddda,’ but when you throw in stuff like calling someone an idiot or other things then that’s crossing the line. I can understand if that happens on occasion, but I’m mainly talking about regular attacks on a poster or an ongoing back-and-forth of infighting. And you guys know what I’m talking about. I’m not trying to take the fun out of interacting and joking around because usually this board is great about that stuff, and that is when it‘s at its best - when the information is flowing, people are joking around and it‘s lighthearted fun all centered around the Razorbacks. I’m just reminding people about what we expect out of people who want to post on this forum.

Posting about deletions. Your post was deleted for a reason, so please stop with the ‘why was my post on such and such deleted’ posts. And please understand we think long and hard before deleting a post and have a good reason for doing so - it‘s not always bad. It happens very rarely (though not yesterday). Sometimes it‘s a duplicate post of something someone else just posted. Sometimes it‘s a thread that gets out of control with attacks on each other, and sometimes it‘s something else, but there‘s always a good reason, and we try to be as fair as possible with the understanding not everyone is going to be happy all the time with our choices as moderators. Usually the only way I’ll ever delete one is if I feel it involves one of the things above. But if you have a concern, please email me about it.

Some of the language lately has been a little harsh, and I don‘t so much mean curse words alone but also some dirtier talk. Light cursing is tolerated, so is partial curse words or fill in the blanks, but please try to stay away from spelling out those words you know I‘m talking about. I’ve been known to drop a few of them when I’m around my friends, I’ve got no problem if you want to curse around me, but I try to be respectful about it when I’m around people who may not care for that type of language or people I don’t know or kids (all of whom get on this website). I’m just saying, this isn’t some agenda-driven rule by me, It’s a rule that’s fair and respectful of others.

I just feel this has always been a more civil message board driven by breaking news posts, informational posts, well- researched posts, great takes from posters and of course there’s nothing like those threads that make you die laughing. The funny ones are my favorites above anything else. I’d be willing to bet that most posters’ least favorite posts on here are ones where they’re being attacked, ones where someone is talking smack about their team or ones where they are being led astray.

Freedom of Speech. We try to allow as much freedom as possible, believe me, but understand we as a private organization are not entitled to offer freedom of speech. So those of you complaining about your rights being violated, that is your explanation. Example: The SEC tells coaches they can’t comment on bad calls by the referees. This is not infringing on their right to free speech, rather a private organization is telling them they can‘t do that if they want to be with them. Message boards are tricky in that people oftentimes feel they can say something to someone else that they would never say to them face-to-face especially without ever meeting them. I’ve always said if you want to post everything about yourself - name of family members, place of business, boss‘ name, picture of yourself, home address, etc., you can post whatever you want.

This isn’t meant to discourage. This board is a great place to be that has lost its way a little. Recently The Razor’s Edge has been a little off, so I felt the need to address this. Those of you who have been with us for several years know what I’m talking about.

Thanks for reading, Trey
