First, we are allowed to post reports from practice but cannot include any missing players or injuries during practice.

  • The quarterbacks were in green jerseys with numbers. This is the first time quarterbacks at Arkansas have had numbers on their jerseys since quarterbacks started wearing different colored jerseys.
  • Alex Collins is noticeably thinner-looking. He is listed approximately 15 pounds lighter than he was last season, and I can see it. He goes about 215 now.
  • There is a new junior college receiver named Jovante Siglar, pretty tall-looking kid. I assume he's a walk-on.
  • At kickoff return, the following players were returning kicks - Alex Collins, Siglar, Damon Mitchell, Keon Hatcher, Rawleigh Williams, Drew Morgan, Dominique Reed and Eric Hawkins.
  • Austin Cantrell was working with the second group on field goal/extra point. Sometimes that's an early indication that a player may see early playing time. That was the only special teams group they did in the first four period.
  • The No. 1 defense was the same group of players as last time.
  • Kevin Richardson and Henre' Toliver were the No. 2 corners.
  • I'm pretty sure they had Derrick Graham working at SAM linebacker and Dre Greenlaw at WILL, but I could be mistaken based on what the offense was supposed to be giving them, but that's how it looked to me.
  • Willie Sykes, who was listed at cornerback as a recruit, was working with the safeties.
  • La'Michael Pettway has changed his jersey from No. 89 to No. 16.
  • I wasn't able to put it all together (only four periods), but the No. 2 defense had De'Andre Coley and Davyon McKinney at the safety spots, Richardson and Toliver at corner, Deatrich Wise at one of the ned spots, Nicholas Thomas-Smith and Josh Harris at linebacker, Hjalte Froholdt at defensive tackle, and that's all I was able to piece together with such a short amount of time.
  • I watched Dominique Reed as much as I could and just watching him catch the ball that little amount I can tell you he's extremely long and athletic. He catches the ball really well with his hands. I didn't get to see much, but I liked what little I saw.
We'll of course have a lot more on the way, but practice is still going on!
