Just a theory, Marty was in a future 2015 that had been altered by a trip to the wild west in the third Back To the Future when Doc Brown was sent back to 1885 from the year 1955. Hence, that's why we don't have the flying cars and hover boards yet. Would have been cool if the Cubs had won the World Series this year as the movie predicted, but that would take a miracle, too.
