Trey/Danny,
First - Thank you so much for your amazing coverage! It's GREAT to slide into the season with the insight that you both bring from practice and interviews.
Second - I was reading Trey's notes from yesterday and something struck me. There was a portion near the bottom of the write up that said that Coach B is waiting for an interpretation from the NCAA on the number of scholarships he can offer walk-ons (either 3 or 4). While I appreciate Coach B's commitment to building a strong walk-on program, I'm confused on the use of these scholarships for walk-ons vs. prospects for the 2016 class. Nothing against the young men who have already made a huge commitment to be a part of this team on their own dime, but since we're in a situation where we only have 19 or 20 spots available for the 2016 due to the max team size of 85, wouldn't it be a better use of those 3 or 4 scholarships to help bolster the incoming talent in February?
I get that a bird in hand is better than a bird in the bush, and that coaches already know what they are getting with a walk-on player who has paid their dues and knows what the expectation is; however, the numbers are tight this year, and maybe splitting the difference might not be a bad idea - IF that's an option. Can you clarify the situation?
That being said - who are the walk-ons that you anticipate earning scholarships? Reid Miller? Josh Harris? Johnny Gibson?
Thanks again!!!
