I'll have much greater detail later from post-practice interviews.
Rawleigh Williams said he feels great and was able to go through everything today (no pads, just helmets today). He has been cleared and says he's ready to go, but he understands the need to be cautious. As far as mentally getting over it, he said when he made the choice to play football again, he wants to give it his all. He said when you worry about getting hurt, that's when you get hurt.
Frank Ragnow said he really likes working with Kurt Anderson, who is more energetic and hands on than Sam Pittman, who was more laid back. He likes the NFL background Anderson brings. Ragnow called Zach Rogers and Hjalte Froholdt geniuses for how quickly they've picked up their positions.
Hjalte Froholdt said he would have been surprised to hear that he would be starting at left guard the first day of spring just months after moving to the offensive line. He also really likes working with Anderson, who he said could spend all day talking about a single play. He said he's very detail oriented. Hjalte is still working on adding weight, though he's well over 300 pounds. Froholdt said it was a mutual decision between he and Bret Bielema. He gave him the option of staying at DT or moving to OL, and he chose to move over. Froholdt did play some offense in high school but was primarily a defensive lineman.
A lot of the discussion with Austin Allen centered around how he was different than his brother. One reporter after another seemed to ask him about his brother and how he compares. Austin said he's more laid back, and while he may appear laid back at times he sometimes is enraged on the inside.
Keon Hatcher said he really likes the ball Ricky Town throws. He said he has a really good arm and throws a very tight spiral, he's just learning the ropes. Hatcher was happy to be practicing in full health really for the first time since last September.
Kody Walker said last camp that he still felt he had the same speed and quickness at 260 as he had at 235, but he said now that he's down to 243 he feels a definite difference. His goal range is 235-240. His goal is to be the starting tailback and an every down back, and he can't do that at 260.
