Michael Smith's daughter had her appendix taken out today. He said he's tired of going to the emergency room. He said Cody Hollister is healing a little faster than Keon Hatcher, but Keon is really working to get back. Smith said he has a decision to make regarding whether or not he comes back next year. Smith also said Kendrick Edwards initially approached the staff about redshirting before they even had a chance to approach him about it. Edwards started the last game. He said the only thing holding Dominique Reed back is that he isn't consistent yet in knowing what he's supposed to do. Smith has been working extra with Edwards and Reed.
Sam Pittman commented on the quality of Texas A&M's defensive ends and said they really have great get-off and bull rush really well. He said John Chavis and LSU really gave them a hard time last year's 17-0 win over LSU (38 carries for 65 yards, 2.5 yards per carry). He said Myles Garrett should run track because he'd be dominant in the 60-meter dash.
Jemal Singleton said Kendrick Jackson did some good things, and they'll continue to build his package and work on him as a fullback. He also said he's been really pleased with Alex Collins as a pass blocker. He said eventually he'd like to get Rawleigh Williams more carries, but he also likes to go with the feel of it, and he said Collins had that 'mojo' going, and the last thing they want to do with a back is pull him out of a game when he's feeling it.
Brandon Allen said they've been trying to take it one week at a time and focus on Texas A&M. He said a lot of players had expectations and some have learned that just showing up isn't enough to win. He said he's got a lot of faith in his guys, and Hunter Henry said they still have a lot of faith in Allen. Henry said Allen will bounce back this week. Henry also offered no comment on the offensive pass interference call from last week. He said last year's loss to A&M still stings.
Williams said his parents live just 20 minutes from Cowboys Stadium. He said he has seen high school games there but hasn't played there. He has 15 tickets he has acquired from other players' allotments.
Denver Kirkland said they played a great game up front last weekend but not their best game. There was a lot of talk about how A&M is leading the nation with 15.0 sacks and also leading the country in hits on the quarterback. Arkansas has given up just nine hits on quarterbacks and is tied for the national lead with no sacks allowed this season. Kirkland said it'll be a great matchup. He said Garrett is a great pass rusher and both of them are great players. He said he's really excited about the matchup.
