Arkansas had its second practice of the school year on Tuesday afternoon and the media was let in to view five periods of action for around 30 minutes total. The team practiced indoors at the Walker Pavilion with the temperature being 100-plus degrees outside.

Here are a few takeaways and tidbits from what I was able to see:

Tuesday's practice takeaways (8/22):

~ Arkansas practiced in full pads on Tuesday afternoon and it was a little bit hotter inside the indoor facility that yesterday. Fans were blowing, but you can tell the air conditioning is not yet ready.

~ There was a long list of players not participating during Tuesday's practice. If we know the reason they are out, it's in parenthesis. If we don't know why they are out, the reason for them not participating is undisclosed at this time:

OL Brady Latham
OL E'Marion Harris
OL Tommy Varhall
OL Joey Su'a
OL Luke Brown
DB Jaylon Braxton
LB Antonio Grier
WR Kalil Girault
DE Jashaud Stewart (heel)
OL Terry Wells (pec)
TE Hunter Talley
WR Sam Mbake (knee)

~ Left tackle Devon Manuel was once again participating at practice again after missing time with an undisclosed injury.

~ Wide receivers Jaedon Wilson and Bryce Stephens were both sporting green jerseys during practice again. Freshman linebacker Carson Dean was also in green.

~ The team began with a fastball period, which is an 11-on-11 period that features generally four plays each for the first, second and third team offense and defense.

~ After fastball, the team transition into individual drills and then they finished with a two-on-two slot drill and gap scheme drills on opposite sides of the field.

~ A couple of general takeaways include JUCO transfer OL Amaury Wiggins being the guy to fill in at first team left guard in place of Latham, Jayden Johnson had a nice interception during the first team fastball period and Devon Manuel did play some first team left tackle during the gap scheme drills.

~ The first team defensive line also completely dominated the third team offensive line in gap scheme drills.

Two-on-two slot takeaways

The final period of the media viewing portion featured quarterbacks throwing to receivers and running backs with defensive backs and linebackers dropping in coverage. The quarterbacks threw from midfield...

~ Jacolby Criswell threw a touchdown to Dazmin James on the right sideline. The ball was a 35ish-yard laser in double coverage.
