Arkansas had practice on Tuesday afternoon to prepare for the Texas A&M Aggies and the media was let in to view four periods of action for around 30 minutes total. The team practiced outside on the two outdoor practice fields as it was sunny and mid-80s in Fayetteville.
Here are a few takeaways and tidbits from what I was able to see:
Tuesday practice takeaways (9/26):
~ Arkansas practiced in full pads on Tuesday afternoon.
~ Running back Rocket Sanders ran with the first team offense during the fastball starts period. That's the first time we've seen him during fastball since before the Hogs even played a game, and it's a good sign that he might return from the knee injury this weekend.
~ During individual drills, head coach Sam Pittman told Sanders that he should go hard, but not too hard to do something not smart in practice. I don't know if Pittman is going over to the running backs while we are there on purpose or if it's just been coincidence that he's over there with us for two days in a row, but he's kept a close eye on the group.
~ Arkansas began with the usual bubble screen drill. The Hogs then transitioned to an 11-on-11 fastball starts period before finishing our allotted time with two individual drill periods.
~ Devon Manuel was the first team left tackle in fastball with Andrew Chamblee serving as second team left tackle.
~ Jaylon Braxton and Dwight McGlothern were the starting cornerbacks during fastball.
~ Cam Ball and Taurean Carter switch spots at defensive tackle, as Ball was with the first team defense and Carter ran with the twos today.
~ Running back AJ Green was again in a green jersey, which is likely related to what looked like a shoulder injury suffered in the third quarter of the LSU game.
