Provided plenty of updates in the coaching hot board thread throughout the day. Here’s a few things we’ve heard from sources:
- “It feels like Sam is going to be fired. I just couldn’t tell you when right now.”
- “I think you’re covering a coaching search. He doesn’t survive that (Auburn loss).” (This source added that it probably wouldn’t be today)
- (In regards to if a decision could be made today) “Technically yes, I haven’t heard that’s not on the table. My pessimistic view is that we wait till after Mizzou.”
- One source says Arkansas is going to have a new coach next year. “Unsure on timing.”
- “Surely nothing will happen this week. That just wouldn’t make sense to me. Maybe they do a Coach O thing and let him finish out the season?”
- What seems to be the biggest thing for Arkansas that most potential coaching candidates would be concerned about (if there is an opening): NIL
- From @DanielFair: Had a 2024 commit reach out and ask what we’ve heard on Pittman. Told him various things, but nothing official. He replied with "just scary…I'm supposed to be there in like 2 months from today.”
- Also, fwiw Steve Robertson of Mississippi State's 247 site said "Have a message that Arkansas is expected to make a move now. Yesterday's debacle appears to have put some over the edge. Look for Malzahn to be priority one."
