I currently have medical card and will be voting for Issue 4. Wondering about yall's thoughts on the state going recreational? Pros, cons, ect.

For, as a non-smoker.

Don't make perfect the enemy of good. The proposed amendment has flaws, but is probably the best we can do to make legalization even remotely possible.
Same. I do not partake either, but I think the tax revenue would be great for the state.

Voted for it but selfishly hope it doesn't pass and not looking like it will. Im afraid it would mess up the med thing we have going now. But there is no reasonable reason it shouldn't be legalized. Amendment 2 is the one needing voted down. If 4 fails and 2 passes we may be waiting along to before its legalized here. Ammendment 2 is bad.

This is the majority sentiment of cardholders. It's wrong, but the only thing that matters is that people believe it.
Whats wrong about it? You dont think legalization would change what we have now. The sudden demand wouldn't effect the current market? Explain if you will.

I’m good with medical; I have several friends with terminal ca who seem to benefit. This bill however is loaded with great wealth for a few with unfair advantages for them. Please stop with the comparison with alcohol, it weakens any argument in favor, actually makes the case against if you think about it. Now I’ll go don my Kevlar jacket…

I'm not against legalization, it's going to happen nationwide and Federal laws need to be adjusted. But I think this particular bill is a bad bill.

It creates a monopoly for existing license holders. It was basically drafted by the current insiders as a coup on an entire industry. it will limit future growing capacity so they can control supply and pricing. Basically pricing would go way up.

They eliminate any oversight from State Legislature......and anybody for that matter.

It eliminates all the current tax revenue from medical sales. It does have new taxes on the recreational side but why eliminate the current tax revenue?

It protects disclosure of minority interests and ownership.....why?

They were super slick adding in the marketing ploy that hit helps police officers. Which it does and that's good. But even the police know it's a farce and all the police groups have come out against this bill.

Even most the Pro marijuana groups are against this bill......because it's just a bad bill.

If you want to give an entire industry over to a small group of current stakeholders without any oversight then vote for this bill. I just think there are better ways to set up the system with more competition and accountability.

Sounds a lot like the casino bill a few years ago.

Came to say this. I'm all for legalization, but this is a power grab hidden behind the allure of legalization.

Literally exactly like it. It's a bad bill.

What substances are the most dangerous and why. Alcohol tobacco or marijuana. If you think mj is more dangerous and harmful to society please give any fact as to why.

I voted for it but I didn't feel great about it.

40 of the new licenses will go to existing MMJ license holders and new cultivators would be limited to no more than 250 plants while the original cultivators would enjoy no restrictions.

The best thing about it is that you wouldn't be able to be arrested for anything under an ounce.

The 250 plant cap is for dispensaries. Current dispensaries have that plant cap, as would all new dispensaries. The cultivators don't have a plant cap.

Tier 2 cultivators would be limited to 250 plants.

That's correct. Tier 2 cultivators are dispensaries.
So what counts as a tier 1 cultivator?

This video says dispensaries will be allowed to grow up to 100 plants, which is double their current limit of 50.

Also says tier 1 cultivators have no plant limits and tier 2 will be limited to 250, which all new licenses will be tier 2.

The Tier 1 cultivators are the 8 current cultivators.

Tier 2 cultivators are dispensaries and have a 250 plant cap. Currently, only 50 of those are allowed to be "mature" plants (flowering, basically). That 50 mature plant cap is what would get changed to 100.

I feel the same. I don't smoke or use edibles but I think it should be regulated the same as alcohol. It might even free up some jail beds for violent criminals.

Also, if Issue 2 passes then the next time a vote like this comes up will require 60% approval.

Appreciate the distinctions.

I'm about to get a shower and go give it 1 for vote. I smoke when the urge hits it may be once a week or once every 3 months but having the legal option is good for me.

Not a perfect bill but I don’t think that the fact it removes the extra tax from medical marijuana should be a negative aspect of the bill.

Definitely think it’s unfair that a prescription for marijuana should be taxed like it’s alcohol instead of like heart medicine or something like that.

If only they gave heart medicine prescriptions out like candy…..

I once ripped a water bong, about 5 times, then drove back down the street to the house. Storm was blowing in and my buddy was with me. A tree branch blew across the road and we both looked at each other and said "did you see that trex run across the road?". Went home and heated up left over Joses chicken and rice, then went and melted into my bed. Never smoked again. Not sure what was in that weed, but the water/ice bong was kinda lit.

Hat. All of it.

I reluctantly voted yes. It's not perfect, but it's the step in the right direction. I think it's as close as Arkansas gets until its legalized federally.

I'm not as sure as I was two months ago that it's going to pass though. Too many people all over the political spectrum oppose it for different reasons, but still have unified opposition.

I’m for recreational, but this bill is not good.
Against it. It will make it harder for those that need it to get it. Small town shops gonna not gonna be able to afford the $1.5 million license.

I just mean if we are accepting the premise that it’s medicine then kind of sucks for the people using it that way to be taxed like it’s a recreational drug
No I agree, I’d be curious to know the percentage where that is true, though

That is definitely more of a question with this than other medicines. But I think having a recreational category that is taxed and a medical one that is not taxed would be helpful. Most people that want to smoke it recreationally and have no medical reason will not seek a prescription just to avoid the tax if they have not already done that. Then the people that actually need it medically can have it more affordably

whats funny is that a good portion that have cards that don’t need them are pushing against this bill because they don’t wanna lose what they have.
