I have read so much about records this year and most of the time it's in the context of pessimism. So I'm going out on the limb now! 10-3

Now the bad news.... I have NEVER made an accurate prediction like this. FWIW :))

LSU is a tough game. If Coach O mans up and tries to overpower then we have a better than even chance.

I think Miss State in Stark is a tough win.

9-4 would be great. 8-5 is realistic. How they play will determine if it's a good year. If they go 8-5 but really show up in all of the remaining games, I like the future.

I do believe in the power of prayer, however not sure the outcome of sporting events are
high on God's priority list but it sure can't hurt
You can't have it both ways. Either it helps or it doesn't. And it doesn't. Yesterday I took my son to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock because we found a Heart Murmur during his routing checkup (he had open-heart surgery as an infant) and it scared us. I didn't pray, I didn't think some God had a hand in it, I trusted the doctors and nurses that go through years of medical school to let me know what's going on, and guess what he's ok.

Great to hear that he is ok! That is scary!

I will say though that sometimes people pray and don't get the answer they want while others choose not to and get their wishes. Sadly, people in your shoes have had similar experiences and the news wasn't so good. I can see why you would have those views, but it doesn't mean that God doesn't answer prayer or isn't real or isn't in control.

I guess that's the part I don't understand. If God is in control, what's the use of prayer? Are you trying to change his mind? Are you trying to change his plan? Two twin brothers in a car wreck, one's a devout Christian the other doesn't believe in God at all. They both have the same exact injuries and the Christian has a better chance of survival because a bunch of people hit their knees?

And thanks for the first comment. I was a wreck, seriously.

Sorry to here about your son and thank God everything came out great.
People have a choice in life to believe what they want.
I believe In God and pray .
Today I prayed for my sister-n-laws MRI test on her Brain and in her lungs to be clear.
We got the results on her Brain and it is clear and are waiting on the results on her lungs.
MR.Razorback is good poster and hog fan on this board that I like.
My best friend and his wife in England that I love and vacation with yearly do not believe in prayer.
It's great that we have a choice as an individual to make up our own beliefs.
I have met a lot of good and great people in life that pray and don't pray that I love and like and will continue to do so.
Thank God that we live in a country that does not dictate what we believe.

Love this. Most of the girls I date are Christians and I'll let them do their thing. In real life I never bash them or anything like that because I don't want to be bashed for my beliefs, or lack thereof.

Even as someone who wholeheartedly believes in Jesus Christ and have for 16 years, it is difficult for me to understand too. I can't understand God's plan, but it's still going to happen. I just want to be a part of it. That's where prayer comes in.

Do you mind if I ask another question about Christianity?

I'm no expert, but absolutely.
Let's say I'm an fvck, I know it's a stretch, but bear with me. I drink, cuss, womnize, never go to church, constantly deny God, have 10 kids, never see them, I rob I steal and I've beat the shit out of folks for no reason etc. On my death bed I accept Jesus as my personal savior, I go to Heaven, right?
A doctor in India who has never heard or even been in touch with somebody that can teach him Christianity, lives his life with one wife, his two great kids, never hits her, cheats on her and does everything he can in the most morally correct person he can be. But yet somehow he burns in hell. Please give me a plausible explanation for that.

All will have the chance to hear about Jesus before this world ends.
It started with him sending out in pairs of two to spread the word.
Then came television, satilight, computers ect.
And nobody knows the time.
Sure this thread will be moved so this is just my opinion.
I don't go to church but I don't steal, kill, or harm others but I do believe in Jesus and pray.
And I do read the Bible.
God says the book of life is opened and opened one time only and all will be judged at that time.
So I myself have ask the question of where to we go when we die if it is open one time only.
I do believe that if you have never heard of Jesus and do good to the world you will find a place in his Mansion because we have children in parts of this world that have died years back that did not have the chance to here or know him.
It's difficult to understand but easy for me to believe.
But the Bible says not to Judge.

Man that it difficult for me to answer. I can only go off of what I've read and been taught from scripture.
To your first scenario, one of the men that hung on the cross next to Christ accepted him. So, yes. It's happened.
Second scenario is that we are all sinners reguardless of how bad. The Bible says there is only one way to the Father, and it's through his Son. So, the 'best' person on the planet that doesn't know Christ is lost.
One thing I've learned is that it's all about a person's heart. It can't be manufactured. 'Praying a prayer' is useless without the heart being genuinely moved to do so.
That's the beauty of what Christ came to do....save us all. Unfortunately, not everyone believes this to be true and chooses whatever else they think.
One way and it can't be earned, that's all I know.

But to answer you specific question about on your death bed and asking for forgiveness, God only knows if that persons heart is right.

First, I am really happy to hear that your son is ok. There is no worse feeling than being in a hospital with a child (speaking from experience). Nothing tests your faith more than that.

Many may not agree with me but here is my own personal belief. First, it's all good. You are saved. I am saved. The doctor and the murderer in India or here are saved. Nothing that you can do on earth as man can change that. That's hard stuff for a lot of people to accept but we are all sinners and God doesn't distinguish between sin.

Jesus teaches us how to live as men or women. His teachings are simple but not easy. True peace and faith come from following his teachings. When you leave the path and actively sin (or drink, cuss, womanize, rob, steal, etc. you create hell on earth.

Finally, my personal belief is that Christianity isn't a religion. Actually, Jesus would probably make fun of our current religious structure and call most of us phony (or Pharisees if you read the Bible). Back to your point of India, his true teachings in the new testament have nothing to do with your religion or religious background. He very directly tells you to ignore all of the rules and follow two simple rules: 1/ love God and 2/ love your neighbor.

That's it. He doesn't say don't drink. He doesn't say don't cuss or womanize. He just says to love.

I love you man!

WOW! I've got you're back, Mr Razorback. You've just been quadrupled teamed by the Mystics.
I am certainly no holy roller and no judgement in this thread. Suspect that outside of HogGotti and theWizard, I have more transgressions and shit in my past than most on this board - Mr R asked and I gave an opinion. All good here.

No, I don't want this to turn into a bashing or anything like that.. I seriously want to talk religion.
Here's my prayer question...If prayer works then why is the mortality rate for brain cancer the same in the US (high population of Christians) as is it in Japan (~2% Christian). If you live in the US and get brain cancer, all kinds of people are praying to a Christian god for healing. If you live in Japan and get brain cancer, most likely none of your friends or family are praying for you (at least not to the Judeo-Christian God) - yet the survival rate in both countries is the same. In fact, wouldn't the Christian nations be shown to have more prosperity, less crime, longer life expectancy, better leaders, and all the other stuff people pray for.

Prayer is not limited to Christianity. And Jesus said where two or more pray, he is there. He doesn't specify that it must be two Methodists, Jews, Hindus or even Devil worshippers. He just says to pray & to love. It's not threatening stuff when you get beyond the goofballs on the margins.

Would Jesus like that America has allowed 1% of the population to have 50% of all wealth? Jesus spoke about helping poor people in the Bible over 300 specific times yet we glorify that top 1% and vilify the bottom 1%.
Seems like if Jesus came back he would be a socialist, yet all Christians seem to be republicans who do their best to help rich people get richer and want to cut most programs that help poor people.

I like that you're strait forward and real. I have had the same mentality on prayer that you have. For the longest time I saw it as time to ask God for whatever I or others needed. I also saw it as 'why ask because Hes going to do whatever He sees fit.' Now, I think it's more about building that relationship and having my heart redirected away from the world we know to Him and what he wants as opposed to just asking for x, y, z.

That's called the placebo effect.

I have often heard stories of people who see the love of God through the greatest tragedies in ways they never would have otherwise. The hardest times in a Christian's life are often the most rewarding because of how much closer it brings them to Christ. I have heard this from many people who grew stronger because of their difficulties.

Don't get me wrong, im not begging to have brain cancer. But if that's my path and i can be used to help others and grow closer to my Creator, then so be it.

You are correct. Harder for a rich man to go to heaven than a camel through a needle's eye. And I think he meant heaven on earth - money is a false idol who many (including me) worship as our god.

Jesus said, "you do not understand the scriptures, nor the power of God." (paraphrased)
I believe his response applies here. God is not a genie in a bottle that we rub (pray), so we can get our wishes. God’s way is always through suffering, not avoiding it. We are connected to God through suffering. It is the way he chose to connect with us. The stakes are greater than we typically think. Being good on earth is so relative.
I would love to talk sometime, @Mr.Razorback. It may be difficult to work out, but would love to visit. Wife and I will be praying for your son and you. (I had a heart murmur as a child)

Interesting topic Mr Razorback , glad to hear ur son is during great . Let me tell u God is REAL , and he loves u whether u love or believe in him. There will always be Believers and nonbelievers. I choose to believe , cos in my 53 years of life , I know without a doubt prayer works , I've been through to much in my life and I know if it wasn't for my Faith in God , I couldn't have come this far. You will never get all that u might pray for cos some things God will not grant us , just because we ask for it . Some of you are trying to rationalize God . When some say " why would God let bad things happen , if he is such a good God " I tell u why, because God is constantly testing our faith in him. He gave his only son up to die just so we could have life, we are ALL sinners , and when we sin and we know it we should pray for his forgiveness and not REPEAT our sins if possible . We can't be perfect as people but we can strive to be the best we can thru prayer. I know some want understand what I'm saying because u don't have him in ur heart . One's heart and soul are what makes a person , not his or her body. There is so much more peace and tranquility in ur life if you have God in ur life . All I can say is just try him and let him in ur life and see if ur life becomes better, even if u think it's great now. ..I'm hoping for 10-3 , but 9-4 would be a Great season also btw.... WOO PIG
