Head coach Sam Pittman and the Arkansas football program are set to host a highly-productive defensive tackle transfer this weekend, as HawgBeat can confirm that Texas Southern's Elinus Noel III will arrive in Fayetteville on Friday.

A 6-foot-2, 330-pound senior out of Louisiana, Noel transferred to Texas Southern for the 2023-24 season out of Nicholls State. In his lone season with the Tigers, Noel racked up 52 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.

Since entering the transfer portal, Noel has received offers from programs like Maryland, NC State, Baylor, Temple and others.

According to Pro Football Focus, Noel played a total of 523 snaps and finished with a defensive grade of 78.4, a run defense grade of 87.5, a tackling grade of 41.1 and a pass-rush grade of 66.7.

Going into the spring transfer portal window, Arkansas had a clear need for veteran depth at the defensive tackle position. Noel could step in and help bolster that immediately and could fight for a starting position.

As things currently stand, the Hogs have eight open scholarships to use on possible roster additions. Follow along at The Trough premium message board to keep up with all the offseason action.
