It appears they have already bottomed out in basketball, although the upcoming scholarship reductions will almost certainly make a bad situation even worse. I can't imagine that program making a turnaround anytime soon, especially given their coaching situation.

Hopefully their football progam takes a similar nosedive in the post-Pinkel era. I would think it will be a gradual decline and it is hard to picture them making a three year run like they did when everyone else in the East was flat-lining.

The protest works both ways. It turns off alumni who don't care. It also turns off potential students, especially millennials, that do not want to attend a university that does not respond adequately to racial issues and criticize students (including athletes) that call for change.

You are such a stinking flake. Respond adequately to racial issues? And what racial issues were those? That the little black millionaire thinks the white people are all privileged while he is somehow underprivileged? That college costs money? That unskilled part time college students aren't worth $15 an hour? Those seem to be the changes they were most interested in, and none of them, not one, has done squat to earn any of those changes.

You want college to be free? Work hard in school and EARN scholarships. They are there to be had. Mt son's best friend in HS lived on our couch part of his senior year b/c he had a mom that was a trainwreck. He graduated 2nd out of a class of 600 with over a 4 point gpa, scored 35 on his ACT, and got a full ride to Hendrix. He is now an MD. Kid had nothing(so much for white privilege) and still made something of himself. None of it was handed to him. He earned it all.

Want to make $15 an hour? Prove you are worthy of more than minimum wage with work ethic, honesty, dependability, and drive. That's how this country became great, not by cowering to the loudest and most entitled whiners.

Was talking about this at Lunch. University of Missouri is in a world of hurt. And I don't feel bad.

There are going to continue to lose financial support (pissed off alumni), they are going to continue to lose enrollment (if you don't have ties to UM, there isn't any desire from parents or kids to go there now), and the education is going to get worse (professors aren't going to want to work there).

The only saving grace they have in Athletics is that the SEC let them in. That alone will keep them afloat.

I wouldn't be surprised if you see a significant amount of transfer students out of Missouri over the next 2-3 years either. I also wouldn't be surprised if many professors leave, especially those that have tenure.

Some of the "professors" and administrators didn't need to even be involved in the first place. What were they thinking? I was glad to see them reprimanded. The one professor that was let go-that was a huge waste of a salary. Her profession and background did not aid to society at all. I was stunned to see her as a teacher.

Yep. That professor that threatened the student reporter was a disgrace to the profession. Glad she got fired.

For what it is worth, The Chronicle of Higher Education is reporting that LSU applications are down 15% due to the budget situation. Other Louisiana universities are down even more.

The LSU situation is MUCH worse, long-term.
