Birmingham, Ala. (October 31, 2024) – The Southeastern Conference unveiled its 20th annual men’s basketball coaches’ preseason All-SEC teams Thursday, tipping off the 2024-25 season.

Alabama’s Mark Sears was the choice of the coaches for SEC Preseason Player of the Year. Joining Sears on the preseason first team is Auburn’s Johni Broome, Florida’s Walter Clayton Jr., Tennessee’s Zakai Zeigler, and Texas A&M’s Wade Taylor IV.

Entering the season, KenPom.com has the SEC rated as the No. 1 conference in the nation. Twelve SEC teams are ranked in KenPom.com’s Top 50 and all 16 rank in the Top 100. The Associated Press Preseason Top 25 featured a nation-leading nine teams ranked: Alabama 2nd, Auburn 11th, Tennessee 12th, Texas A&M 13th, Arkansas 16th, Texas 19th, Florida 21st, Kentucky 23rd, and Ole Miss 24th.

The 2024-25 campaign begins November 4, with league play set to begin January 4. The 2025 SEC Tournament will be March 12-16 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
