One thing I've seen quite a bit, and I've even contributed to some is the effect of Portis and Qualls leaving on the 2016 BBall recruiting class.
First, yes, Malik Monk plans to sign in the late period. Yes, our success level could have some effect on him if he sticks to that plan. I saw someone say that they know for a fact, maybe hpharri, that next season will have an effect on how Malik feels about Arkansas. Something seems off there. I'm not so sure. We'll see, I guess.
That said, most players sign in the early period, which is during the first games of the season. Therefore, Portis and Qualls leaving and that possibly leading to a disappointing season next year is not as significant as some of you are making it out to be. The critical time is NOW - the spring live period. This is when our coaches should be making their money. And, with Portis/Qualls leaving, actually, it could be used as a positive, especially now, in recruiting.
Our staff has to lock the majority (if not all; Monk could change his mind on timing) of this class down now through August. Use that 27-9, 2nd in the SEC, NCAAT team, with two players drafted to your advantage.
As I've said, I'm worried about our success next year. A nice signing class in November would make most of us feel better.
