Yeah…I saw a lot of 3.60-3.70 when I was driving home. I think I fücked up by not looking around and just went to the closes station to my office. But I turned my computer in so I was in a “don’t give a shit,” mood. Just odd…it was at a super busy intersection no where near an airport…so I didn’t even look at the price prior to pumping; just assumed it normal.

My understanding is that a partial reason for the increase is that oil companies permanently closed or reduced operations at plants because of the “new normal.” Covid led to a lot of permanent work from home situations, so production capability was purposefully lowered. Now, allegedly, there is high demand without the pre-existing infrastructure. There also continues to be distrubution delays.
Exxon, Shell, BP, etc are all posting record profits though, so price gouging seems plausible.
Having to rely on the Saudis, OPEC, and Russia for any help is useless though. Decades of bad policy have kept us entwined in that mess.

I agree there. We aren't sitting at home writing essays about how glorious our leaders are, but there was a time when the leaders of our country were respected and admired.
Maybe we'll get back there someday. Probably won't be anytime soon.
