Arkansas head coach John Calipari has kept recruiting under wraps since his official hiring, but the Razorbacks did host one of the top transfer portal players in the country over the weekend according to HawgBeat's Jackson Collier and a report from On3's Jamie Shaw.

Florida Atlantic's Johnell Davis — a 6-foot-4, 203-pound guard from Indiana — visited Arkansas and came away with a lot of boxes checked, per Shaw. The Razorbacks' coaching staff also "came away from the visit feeling good about where things were at."

HawgBeat basketball insider Jackson Collier has also reported similar rumblings of Davis' Arkansas visit, so Hog fans should feel pretty good about where the Razorbacks stand in his recruitment.

Rated as the No. 24 overall transfer according to EvanMiya, Davis averaged 18.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game with the Owls last season. He also shot 48.3% from the field, 41.4% from beyond the arch and 85.7% from the charity stripe.

Though the initial buzz for Davis' recruitment was centered around his former head coach Dusty May and the Michigan Wolverines, the latest trends have pointed to Kentucky and Arkansas per multiple reports. After Davis' trip to the Natural State, though, Shaw reported that he felt confident enough to place an "RPM" (prediction) to Arkansas for Davis.

During Florida Atlantic's magical run to the Final Four in the 2022-23 NCAA Tournament, Davis put himself on the national radar with four straight double-digit performances against Memphis (12 points), Fairleigh Dickinson (29 points, 12 rebounds), Tennessee (15 points) and Kansas State (13 points, eight rebounds, six assists).

If Davis commits to Arkansas, he will join a projected roster that already includes Kentucky transfer big man Zvonimir Ivisic, Tennessee transfer center Jonas Aidoo and 2024 prospects Karter Knox, Boogie Fland and Billy Richmond.

As things currently stand, Arkansas now sits with five scholarship players on its roster. Be sure to follow along at The Trough premium message board for updates on all the offseason action.
