The Arkansas basketball team announced Wednesday that it will host Purdue for a preseason charity exhibition game on Oct. 28 at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville for a 3 p.m. CT tipoff.

The two teams are likely to be preseason top-25 squads for the 2023-24 season, so fans will have the opportunity to get a good feel for how this Razorback team can perform.

Last season, Purdue finished with a 29-6 overall record and 15-5 in Big Ten conference play. The Boilermakers won the Big Ten tournament before losing as the No. 1 overall seed against Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

The two programs have only played twice before. The first meeting came in the 1938-39 season, when Purdue beat Arkansas 57-51. The second came in 1983, when Alvin Robertson and Darrell Walker combined to score 49 points in a 78-68 Razorback victory.

All proceeds from the game will go to the United Way to assist with relief efforts from the tornados that affected Arkansas this past spring.

Last season, Arkansas traveled to Austin, Texas, to face the Texas Longhorns in a preseason charity exhibition on Oct. 29. The Longhorns beat the Razorbacks easily, 90-60.

This is the second piece of scheduling news to release Tuesday, as the home opener for the Razorbacks was released earlier.
