I had the opportunity to see Bret tonight at Mountain Home. First, no children cried and no animals were harmed in the production of his appearance. He was very personable and mingled and laughed with the crowd. Just a few tidbits of new info. Two new coaches will be hired for the defense "very soon" and he said they would have strong recruiting credentials. If and when a 10th assistant is added, he will likely be a special team coach, again with strong recruiting abilities. He was really high on the four new offensive lineman and said they had a chance to one day be elite. Gibson has already lost 12 of the 30 pounds they want before spring practice. Brian Wallace looks like he is ready to take his game to the next level and with six OL returning who have started at least one game, he expects more cohesion and less experimenting this year with much better results. He thinks Ragnow may be the most complete OL he has ever coached and should go first round next year. Whaley will be used more next year and he expects our running game to be more dominant and diversified.

On defense, he said Paul Rhodes got a standing ovation from the team when he was announced as the new DC. He admitted the defense was downright "terrible" at times this year and thinks the 3-4 will allow more opportunities to create packages to confuse offenses. The coaches got together today for the first time to review the Virginia Tech debacle. He said "you only had to see it once, I'll have to watch it at least 10 times".
