The AFCA's Todd Berry said coaches at this week's convention are unanimous in wanting an early signing day on the third Wednesday of December. There was also a proposal for a signing day as early as June, but that got no support (as expected, because that's way too early).

What it means for Arkansas:

Bielema has been in favor of an early signing period. I've talked to Arkansas coaches who said they would be in favor of a signing day as early as August.

Basically, for a school like Arkansas that has seen other "bigger" names come in and swoop some of their commits (or at least try to), the earlier you can lock those guys up, the better.

Now, it's definitely a two-way street. What if, for instance, Kamren Curl had signed early with Texas Tech or Chevin Calloway with Iowa? Those are two of your top guys here in January.

Still a lot to figure out and ultimately it will still come down to kids doing what they want to do, but the early signing periods are coming, eventually.
