Defending the Slant

Is our inability to defend these short crossing patterns a personnel or scheme issue? Or both?

We had a little more success yesterday with the CBs on the routes but our LBs get killed.

Seems like every time our opponents need to convert a 3rd down, they just send someone across the middle and get 14 yards. The play at the end of the first half was a killer.
