Cullen Smith from East Tennessee State... He was Southern Conference All-Freshman selection in 2017 when he hit .301 with 2 HR 38 RBIs, a second-team All-SoCon selection as a sophomore in 2018 when he hit .295 with 2 HR and 22 RBIs and a second-team All-SoCon selection again as a junior this year as he hit .304 with 7 HR and 30 RBIs. After playing third base as a freshman, Smith moved to second base the past two years.
Career stats: 161 games, .300/.398/.430, 40 2B, 3 3B, 11 HR, 90 RBI, 115 R, 93 BB/115 K, 19-27 SB
This just further shows DVH is trying to bring in as many people as he can to compete for playing time. TCU transfer Coby Boulware will be eligible this year, plus they've added a pair of transfers in Cole Austin from Arizona State and now Smith this offseason. All three seem to be candidates to fill the hole left by Jack Kenley at second base.
Update: Per @PorkRyan12, it sounds like Smith will sit out this year and be eligible for 2020.
