Let me start by stating the obvious.... that we ended up with a career positional coach as our head coach means we reached a sub-basement tier level of coaches at the end. With that said, we need to all give him the benefit of the doubt and get behind him until he gives us objective evidence that he can't get it done. In my opinion, the most feasible path he has towards making lemonade out of this lemon is to get two GREAT coordinators for the offense and defense and then get the best possible recruiters you can get for all the positional spots. He can then be the master motivator and clean up guy on recruiting, which are by all means his specialties, while letting the coordinators run their respective parts of the team on the field.
That, to me, is the only way this works. And to be honest, I don't feel great about his ability to get the quality of assistants we need given that the best are going to be leery of walking into a program already at rock bottom and with a questionable path back towards high-end respectability.
