The Arkansas football team is now sitting at 21 total commitments in the class of 2025, with the majority coming from the high school ranks and one coming out of junior college.

Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman said at SEC Media Days on July 19 that he’d like to get to 20 in the class, but there are still a few holes left to fill heading into the 2024 season.

The commitment list breaks down fairly evenly between the offense and the defense, with 10 offensive and 11 defensive commits. There are only three four-stars in the group, but that could change if prospects have strong senior seasons ahead of the Early Signing Period, which starts Dec. 4.

HawgBeat’s Recruiting Big Board recaps Arkansas' current commitments and other targets the staff is working on.

The quarterback for the class of 2025 has been set for nearly a year and a half now, as four-star gunslinger Grayson Wilson out of Conway (he transferred to Conway after three years at Central Arkansas Christian) committed to the Razorbacks on April 15, 2023.

Wilson's stock has grown exponentially since his commitment, as he jumped to four-star status from unrated when he committed. His offer sheet doesn’t flash, but that's only because he's locked into Arkansas. A source indicated to HawgBeat that Wilson isn't entertaining other schools’ calls, no matter the program.

Running Back

Markeylin Batton and Cameron Settles are the two running backs in this class, though Batton is listed as an athlete.

Settles is the latest to jump on board, as he committed to Arkansas over offers from Missouri, Georgia Tech, Oregon State, SMU and others on Aug. 3. Last season, he rushed for 979 yards and 20 touchdowns on 96 carries for Parkview High School.

Wide Receiver

Right now, there are three wide receivers committed in the class in three-stars Kamare Williams out of Wellington, Florida, Quentin Murphy out of Little Rock and Antonio Jordan out of Warren.

Given the attrition the Hogs will likely see in the wide receiver room after the 2024 season, (Andrew Armstrong, Tyrone Broden, Isaac TeSlaa and Khafre Brown are in their final seasons of eligibility) HawgBeat expects Arkansas to look for at least three, possibly four in the class.

Earlier in the year, it felt like San Diego native Dreyden Garner was on the cusp of a commitment. Things have started to quiet down for him, but he'll remain on the list as one to keep an eye on.

Charles — a teammate of Kamare Williams — took an official visit to Arkansas in June and subsequently de-committed from Miami (FL), but later committed to UCF. He's one we'll consider as a potential flip candidate, so he's staying on the list for now.

Tight End

Right now, Arkansas does not have a tight end committed and that may be the way the staff wants it this year. The Hogs have a deep tight end room with a lot of young talent like Luke Hasz, Ty Washington and Shamar Easter, so there isn't a dire need for this position group.

Arkansas offensive line coach Eric Mateos has been on the staff for less than a year and has already produced as many commitments as his predecessor had in two seasons with four.

The stars don’t jump off the page for this year’s class, but Kash Courtney, Blake Cherry, Lionel Prudhomme Jr. and Connor Howes have the physical makings of SEC linemen after a few developmental years.

I’m keeping Marion four-star Carius Curne on the list because — while it’s not going to be easy — there’s still a chance that with a strong 2024 campaign, the staff can circle back around and work for a flip from his LSU commitment.

Nelson McGuire visited Arkansas on June 19 and was supposed to commit on July 31, but delayed it for unknown reasons. The 6-foot-5, 290-pound guard is also heavily considering Kansas State and Texas Tech.

Hutchinson C.C. offensive lineman Carmarion Craig earned an offer from the Razorbacks on May 3, and he confirmed to HawgBeat that he does intend to visit Fayetteville at some point this fall.
