The Razorback defense had a good day on Tuesday, and there has been some personnel shake up since the start of camp and just in the past day.
Hackett shows dedication
Arkansas has one highly experienced linebacker in junior two-year starter Brooks Ellis, though Ellis has moved from MIKE to WILL this season, which is where everything flows in Arkansas' style of defense. Nobody is too worried that Ellis will make a smooth transition…
But there is some concern with true sophomore Khalia Hackett being inserted to a starting role at MIKE. Hackett started last spring as the starting SAM before being moved inside. He has all the tools to be a good one and also seems to have the dedication.
"I wanted to get at 235. I reached my goal and I guess I dropped down to 230. That's what happens when you practice all day," Hackett said. "I'm getting more comfortable, but I still have a long way to go. I'm still learning where the run fits are and where my pass fits are, where I go, where I drop off of. I'm just trying to get better. I'm up here at 6:30 every morning with my coaches just trying to learn the game."
"All the guys are helping him out," Ellis said. "Coach Hargreaves is doing a good job of making sure he knows what he's doing. He's also doing the best he can and still working at it. He's going to get there."
