Before Nevada, he carried the label of a mediocre coach with anger issues that couldn't hold down a job. Jumping around the basketball world for 15 years.

All of a sudden, he finds his niche beating up on borderline D2 teams at Nevada. Padding his record leading to tournament appearances where he collected very questionable losses. He suffered at the hands of Loyola Chicago in the sweet 16 in the 2018 tournament. A loss they only ended up taking because they had two miracle comebacks in the round of 64 and round of 32. And again the next year against 10 seed Florida (when Nevada was a 7 seed) in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

He comes here and can’t get off the bubble with two NBA players, Joe and Jones. Rides an excuse about the team's height all year long and gets a pass.

Then last year he is blessed with the best freshman to ever play here and still needed miracle comebacks in almost every game. Seriously, people don't talk enough about the miraculous nature of what we did last year. The inordinate amount of things that bounced our way. Not limited to but including no calls on blatant fouls at the end of the R32 Texas Tech game, and a buzzer beater against Oral Roberts in the S16.

Now, reading far too many press clippings about being some transfer portal guru, he fields a patchwork team of players that should've never been recruited here in the first place. He and Ruta do the same with schedule building, assuming our lucky non-conference draw last year was the rule and not the exception.

Our team lacks basic defensive principals, and we attempt to field an NBA offense that only works when you have quote-unquote superstar. The player who fits the mold the best (Toney) doesn't get a single play run for him all game while we let 20% 3-point shooters get 90% of the usage.

To top off the mess, instead of losing with grace, he stomps his feet and cries like a fücking toddler and gets ejected. Helluva message to send to a team that will be lucky to finish conference play .500.

Thank God he's recruited the way he has. We might be talented enough for our players to carry his bum-a$$ coaching far into the tournament again next year.
