Two weeks ago most on this board were focused on the process of hiring a new AD and HC. When anyone mentioned the early signing period and the class we had committed it was said to be fairly insignificant. Since that time we have an AD and HC in place. Due to the timelines involved we are still unsure about half our staff (defense and special teams). We have lost several commitments (RB, CB, 2019 QB, and possible defections on the OL-Jones and Banks). We picked up a DB, OL and a WR to backfill some of the losses. We have another possible commitment from a DL in-state.

The coaches put together a Hail Mary recruiting weekend that involves 3 kids that are already committed to other reputable schools plus a strong base of our commitments. When the visitors don't fall all over themselves after knowing these coaches for 9 days it is treated like the sky is falling. Expectations need to be tempered. This is a restoration project, not a quick fix. This same roster ,minus 3-5 de-commitments, was expected to be the team that we rolled out in 2018. We have the period between Dec 20-Early Feb to fill any other spots. The 4-5 star athletes don't roll in based on a short term relationship and a couple of twitter posts with cute shoes and clever hashtags.
