First, thanks everyone for taking time to read this. I want to state that I’m not writing this to order or to demand anything, though my hope is that everyone will take this message to heart.

This is in regard to the Houston Nutt/Springdale/Hire and Fire or Resignation/3.5 Million/Golden Handcuffs/Josh Melton/Wally Hall haters/Sunshine Pumpers/Darksiders/Banners/Picking Sides drama that has surrounded this football program in a tug-o-war format since the summer of 2005 when Mitch Mustain first decommitted to the Razorback football program three years ago (I know, “Why is Biddy talking about this old junk?” -Just bare with me.). (Some of you probably read that first part and stopped reading, and if so then there is no reason for you to continue reading anyway). It’s the hate so many have for Houston Nutt and/or Springdale stuff or those who support one side or the other (whether someone feels it is warranted or not isn’t the issue any longer.). It’s the Josh Melton posts, the text messaging jokes, the Teresa Pruitt stuff, the Beck Campbell stuff, the steady reports on USC and Ole Miss and Tulsa, the overwhelming HDN attacks, the overwhelming HDN defenses, and mainly now-a-days the linking of topics that discuss those opinions or re-hash this stuff or all the USC, Ole Miss, Tulsa updates - it’s all that stuff. If John Doe writes a piece about that stuff, I’d rather not read it. It’s ancient to me.

There are so many places to go and talk about that old and tired stuff, that my hope is this can be a forum that we can talk RAZORBACK athletics and moving forward, and if you do feel the need to discuss that, you will choose to post it on another site (and I understand Ole Miss week and Tulsa week are going to be different, but I‘d still hope it‘s not over the top stuff that we delt with while Nutt was here towards the end). You guys know me, I hate to send you anywhere else, but I’m willing to do that on this topic b/c this site’s goal is to be your one-stop shop for RAZORBACK sports.

Let’s face it, by responses to posts made on these subjects, I think most people want to move on, and all it does is start fights between one-time supporters and one-time detractors. But mainly what I’ve noticed, more than anything, and where I’ve noticed one-time supporters and one-time detractors is those who get upset that it’s still being discussed - that‘s the main cause of infighting now it seems - posts or links regarding this old subject, and those who announce they are tired of these types of posts. Then they end up having those old feelings jump out again. Here we are at the beginning of a new era, why talk about the past? The future absolutely couldn’t be brighter unless DMAC and Felix had decided to stick around. Somehow, someway, BOBBY FREAKING PETRINO is the head coach here?!?!?! How great is that? A homerun hire no matter what you felt about Nutt. Can’t bygones be bygones now? Can’t we forgive one another for who we believed the other to be way back then? Or agree to disagree? Whatever works for you?

This board, the reason it became so popular in the first place, is because it was a fun place to be for the exchange of ideas, sharing of creative and interesting posts and for late-breaking news…mainly for late-breaking news…not eight-month old negative news. I realize we’re not going to please everybody, but I’d rather get in the camp of people who are enjoyable to interact with instead of infighters or those who want to continually bring up this old stuff. I don’t care if you loved or hated Nutt, Malzahn, Wally Hall or Chuck Barrett. Your stance on that subject is the least interesting thing about you as far as I’m concerned. And I don’t mean to call anybody out, I sincerely don’t, I’m just trying to get across what I hope to discuss here, and that’s this current football program.

I also think and hope this will happen naturally with the season on the brink of kicking off, but then again none of those people have been on this campus for nearly eight months and most longer, and it is still a hot topic among some. But I feel most would like this to go away. And while I understand the ‘if you don’t like it, don’t read it idea,’ I would still like to take that a step forward and go with ‘if you don’t like it, then don’t go to those other places where I posted that type of message.’

Since Otis and I took on this project of building HawgSports.com nearly six years ago, our membership have discovered that this is not the same type of message board as most you see out there, mainly the public sites. We’re different, and that’s just the way it is, but I also believe that’s why so many of you like it here. In the sense of this one topic, I think that’s something we’ve lost sight of a little.

Thank you everyone for reading this, and I hope I didn’t come across as being dictator-like, and I hope you all will embrace this idea on this forum. It’s not a big deal when you think about it, but I really think it’s something that will make this a better community with a more pleasing overall user experience.

Thanks everyone,
Trey Biddy
