Nine years ago when I joined this site I was very young and had been married for two years to my beautiful wife Vickie. We had both moved away from Arkansas for the first time in our lives and I turned here to fill the void we had created by leaving home. This was my life support in terms of everything Hog. For a while this was my favorite picture and if you were around then Im sure you will remember it...
Dmac had arrived and all was right with the world, well, almost. One HDN was still finding unthinkable ways to throw away talent like a garbage man on pick up day. We all here fought, argued, and cheered as Dmac ran over everyone. My wife and I went to LA for the game with USC..... SMH. Then a year or so later another Hog came into our lives and I had a new favorite picture. Our son, and as above you may remember this one.
The days of HDN came to an end and we were horrified with rumors of washed up old reruns when like a lightning bolt from above Bobby Petrino fell from the heavens. Ryan Mallett came on board and a early graduate with a name that is synonymous with the most historical river in Africa gave his pledge to the hogs. It was this time that I decided that no matter what it would take, no matter where we lived, or how long the drive I was going to find a way to go to the Catfish Hole weekends. I called up the Hole. Nervous, hoping I could get a seat. Pat only asked me one question..... will you be loud? I told him that my son 2 at the time would be coming with us. Pat was concerned about having a toddler there. I calmed his nerves by telling him that my son could sing every word of the fight song. We were in! This is the picture of J.R. when he was 3 and coach K leading the fight song at the hole.... again this was my sig for a while
Time moved on and the team got good...no... great. We were dominant on O. We had moved to Central Mo to get closer to home. We had season tickets for the first time since I was a kid. We were on top of the world. If not for the Tide we would have won it all. Along came my daughter. Ive never really posted a pic of her or put her in my sig. I think there is something more personal for a Dad and his little girl. She is mine and mine alone. I hope you can understand that. I am so proud of my son and it shows but by little girl is different. I was one of 3 boys so I will/do look after her a bit to much.
We got the opportunity to move back to Central Arkansas and I took it. Work sucked but we were home. It was great for a while but then we realized even though we were home we saw our family less. Apparently Bobby was unhappy with his life and decided to find a replacement for his wife. That didnt turn out so well for us. It was a disaster on the highest level. Epic. The family grew and enjoyed Arkansas while we could.
Now whe have a great coach and a bright future. This year wont be anything to write home about but we will go, we will, cheer, and we will HAVE FUN! Some people say Im crazy for allowing my families life to revolve around the Hogs. That may be true (that Im crazy) but not for having fun, with my family, while cheering for the hogs. So you see the Hogs and this site are a part of my family. There is but a fine separation between them.
And this leads us to now. This board has provided me with what I needed to get my Hog fix living out of state, meet all of the coaches/players, and make new friends who share the same "crazy" Hog passion that I do. It has become as much a part of my life as brushing my teeth or going to the grocery store. Its just what you do its part of who I am. Thank you to everyone here for allowing me to have this place to go through the ups and downs of a Razorback fans life. Trey and Danny..... youre the best and you know I mean that.
GO HOGS!!!!!
