I'm sure some have heard about it but there are two 16 year old boys down here in Taylor that are "accused of" murdering a guy last week. My son (14) knew the one that actually committed the murder fairly well. Matter of fact I remember him telling me stories about his temper last year and his dealings with him. They have confessed to it and the stories are just now starting to trickle out but it's a very very sad deal. 16 and will be tried as adults.

Yes it's a sad deal. I used to work with Keaton's dad and he is a good guy. I'm pretty sure the kid was raised right just made one stupid mistake that will ruin his life.

Eh, shooting and murdering someone is well beyond "one stupid mistake." Not saying he wasn't raised right but the kid obviously has some serious issues.

I'm sure he is from a good family, but no, killing someone is not a "mistake" !
It is usually an indication of a serious character flaw. We have a situation in Conway where 4 teens are "accused" of the murder of two. There is more to it than a stupid mistake !

Yeah, iv Web talked to some people that knew Keaton and they said he was a good kid. The other kid dropped out last year and was getting his GED. Apparently they planned to just rob the guy but it went way wrong.

I don't know the kid but it sounds like you two have it all figured out. Thanks for the correction.

There's a case in Cleveland county where some teens were involved with the murder of a pregnant girl along with some adults. They dug a deep hole and buried her after shooting her with a crossbow then beating her with a bat. From what I understand one finally told the sheriff's department where the body was buried and they had already been in the spot with dogs, but she was buried so deep they couldn't pick up the scent. It wasn't until the one came forward that they found her.

Wow

It really is saddening that we seem to hear a lot about young people committing acts like this, and throwing their lives away. While media has obviously been drawing more attention to situations like this, I still believe there is a major lack of respect for the value of life these days. This doesn't just cover today's kids/teens - there are people in my age group who can easily fit into this as well.

Oh they were just going to rob him..

Regardless of what people said about the kid or how good his family is, you've got to call a spade a spade. Kid is a cold blooded killer who deserves to be locked up.

It went way wrong when they decided to rob someone. Sad to see kids that age throw it all away over money. Prayers for all involved

He was just saying that they had just planned to rob the guy at first! I don't think he meant it like just robbing the guy would have been ok.

OK look man, I'm just saying that it's not like they went over there just to murder a guy (from what I hear) they went to rob, got caught and did something that'll change their lives forever. They're POS's to me too.

My dad Cliff, yes the 2 time SuperBowl winner and 6 time Pro Bowler, always told me you get that nose popped real quick sticking your head in other peoples battles boy

Respect for law in general. It's a weird time.

At what point in time did people ever respect the law?
This is a valid question. People like to believe that we are more savage now. I agree that there is sh!t going on, but it has been since whenever you believe the beginning of time is. Now things are just more broadcasted and reported. You cant forget your dog in the car while it is running for a 5 minute pee break these days without making the news. There have always been people that have broken the law, caused chaos and havoc, and certainly been more genocide. I'm not saying today's world is perfect, but let's not just act like the sh!t just hit the fan.

This is the safest time in America's history and people are flipping out about the simplest of things. It's comical to me the..."America has gone to hell" comments.

Which generation was better? Please tell me that you think yours was better.

I agree with this. This generation just has a bigger voice because of the internet and social media.
Its easier to band together with people of a similar mindset without fear of persecution.

There have always been people with certain viewpoints but a lot of whats spoken openly now was done underground or just kept private.

Go ahead and bash me. But this country and its younger generation has lost it's fear of God.
I have no idea how old you are, so I'll ask, so when you was younger the country was so much better during WW1? WW2? Or how about the seventies with Vietnam? How about the crime rate being at an all-time high in the 1980s? At what point are you referring to that this country was so awesome and it's such a hell hole now?

It's actually called having a opinion. They're like a**holes everyone has one and they are all different. In my opinion this "safe" country as you say has seen its better days.

If you think young people today still have as much respect for others as they did say 20 years ago then we will agree to disagree

Can you explain why is the crime rate so low nowadays? What era are you referring too? Can you point me to a specific time period? We are in a safer time period than any other time in this country's history. But the respect thing I get, but there has always been a problem. I'm 42 and 20 years ago kids were just as bad. Let's not act like it's just starting now.

The jails and prisons are bigger and better than ever before. They are also full. They rarely let you stay unless you have committed a crime. People are stealing other people's stuff in area communities at a record pace. Maybe your area is a slice of heaven but mine is headed in the wrong direction

WHEN WAS IT BETTER? stop avoiding the question. Which time period are you claiming to be better, or should I say basing your opinion on?

What time period was better? The jails are overcrowded for a myriad of reasons, in today's world video cameras are everywhere & they're catching everybody that used to get away with things in the seventies, eighties and nineties when you, apparently, grew up. Why don't you name a period that you referring to?

I could name any of the 6 decades I've been alive that around be called better times than today. You will makes excuses for why your opinion is correct and we could go on and on. As I said it's just a opinion

So it is an excuse for us to disagree and support it with information, but it is an opinion for you to just say anytime before now is a better time? I highly recommend the book of James for you. Specifically chapters two and three.

I've read that book more times than you could ever imagine young man. I haven't just read it I live it.
