The BIG positive is the HOG Defense is FIXED!! Insert Greenlaw and Ramsey and the Hogs did what only Clemson, Alabama and Georgia have done against Auburn in the 6 year Gus Malzahn era, 72 games...hold his team to 225 yards or less, 3.88 yards per play!! And on the road, under duress due to crappy ST.
For clarity, 3.88 yards/play would rank #5 in the NATION! #8 ranked D Washington (4.29) and #24 ranked LSU (4.67) only held Auburn to 5.19 and 4.97 yards per play. FYI, Bama is #25 at 4.68 and Hogs overall are ranked #35 at 4.83, #7 in SEC...this rate would have been 4th last year. Last night on the road with little help from the offense and negative help from special teams, we found a really, really good DEFENSE!!
One game doesn't make a defense, but at least this defense has a high ceiling if it can link a few games together with solid defense then that would be a start to turning the WORST defense in Razorback history around from the last couple years. This team needs to find leaders, an identity to build on and it looks like the Chavis defense could be it.
