This is pretty crazy to me. The Southland canceled its fall football season with the intent of playing a conference schedule in the spring. However, it is allowing its schools to play non-conference games still.
UCA has every intention of playing a full schedule this fall. Here's what the Bears have so far...
Aug. 29 - vs. Austin Peay (in Montgomery, Ala.) - on ESPN!
Sept. 3 - @ UAB
Sept. 19 - @ Arkansas State
Sept. 26 - vs. Missouri State (Bobby Petrino returns to Arkansas!)
Oct. 17 - @ Missouri State (an in-season home-and-home!)
Nov. 21 - @ LA-Lafayette
I respect the hustle by the UCA AD... Getting a nationally televised game as one of - if not THE - only college football game next weekend, the only home game scheduled so far will draw the max possible crowd because it's Bobby Petrino, probably not having to pay for that home game either because it's a home-and-home, plus three games vs. FBS foes - which means they're probably getting a check.
Pretty impressive.
