Arkansas earned its first commitment of the 2026 class on Thursday, when in-state four-star J.J. Andrews committed to the Razorbacks.

A product of Little Rock Christian Academy, J.J. is the son of former Arkansas football legend Shawn Andrews, so he's a Razorback legacyand is also the top-ranked player in the state according to Rivals.

As a highly-touted prospect, fans have a right to be excited about landing the in-state talent, but Andrews possesses a skill set that fits well with a John Calipari system.

With the new addition, HawgBeat breaks down Andrews' game and what he will bring to the Arkansas program when he gets to campus.

Measureables:

Andrews checks in at 6-foot-7 and 220 pounds according to Rivals, and that size by itself screams the kind of wing John Calipari loves to have on his rosters. For reference, Karter Knox is listed at 6-foot-6, 220 pounds on the official Arkansas roster, while Billy Richmond is listed at 6-foot-5, 205 pounds.

Andrews possesses similar traits to both wings from last year's Razorback squad, including great defensive instincts and athleticism, but we will touch on that a bit later.

According to ESPN's Paul Biancardi, Andrews adds a seven-foot wingspan to his large frame. He also lists Andrews at 6-foot-8 rather than Rivals' 6-foot-7. Regardless, the size and length are those of a high-major wing and NBA prospect.

"That is what we call a college-ready body," Adam Finklestein of CBS Sports said on the NBA TV broadcast of Andrews' Saturday night game.

The size, the weight, the length: he holds all of the intangibles to be a force immediately next year. Including the actual skillset and talent.
