New FutureCast for the Hogs

Entered a new FutureCast for three-star in-state TE Erin Outley in favor of the Hogs.

Not a lot of new information here, but have been told the Razorbacks have been standing out for some time and the fact that no out-of-state visits have taken place has helped Sam Pittman's cause.

I feel pretty confident here moving forward with Arkansas as the team to beat

Stay tuned

OT My babysitter tested positive

For Covid! Had to withdraw from my 4 ball this weekend. Getting tested tomorrow, someone talk me off the ledge. I’m hot pissed right now! Stupid ass went to a party Friday night knowing a sick person was there and then came and exposed my boys. It’s taken everything for me to not go over to their house and slap the shit out her mom and punch her dad in the throat! Who does this shit?

FB Recruiting HawgBeat Big Board Notebook: July 16, 2020

https://arkansas.rivals.com/news/hawgbeat-2021-target-big-board

Just updated the target big board once again and there were several subtractions and additions.

Starting with the subtractions, two WRs committed to programs on the West Coast. FL WR Tommi Hill committed to Arizona State and Illinois WR Keontez Lewis committed to UCLA. Neither were priorities as we all know Ketron Jackson has that final WR spot reserved for the moment. Speaking of WRs, Georgia WR Jayden Thomas is coming out with his top 5 tomorrow (Friday) and I think the Hogs will make the cut but Notre Dame, Michigan and others are also recruiting him very hard.

Dreyden Norwood committed to Texas A&M, which was a bit surprising in both the landing spot and timing of the decision but there were some little signs. Norwood told TexAgs that A&M had moved into his top 2 or 3 after a virtual visit but didn't do any commitment interviews with any major outlet that I can find. His coach mentioned a really good relationship with the CBs coach so idk, guess he just doesn't have that in-state loyalty that most do.

Last one of the guys off the board, Demeco Roland from Hutchinson CC (Rhoades' former program). Roland told the Texas Tech Rivals site that once he heard they weren't having a season (Dec. grad) that he just went with the school going after him the hardest and he wanted to play against Oklahoma and OK State. Hogs have just three DT on the board right but are in solid shape with Cameron Ball at least and have interest from Albert Regis. Ball says he's in no rush, just added a Tennessee offer which looms large as well.

I added the QB Arkansas offered Charles Wright to the board, but he sounds pretty set on Iowa State.

Arkansas made the top 7 for Texas RB Cam'Ron Valdez and top 7 for Alabama RB Kenji Christian, so it's clear they've stayed in touch despite having two on board already. You never know what could happen so I like that they're not letting up. Valdez has Texas Tech leading with Arkansas, Ok State, Nebraska, Purdue, Utah and Arizona State trailing. Christian is a toss up and has Arkansas, Virginia Tech, FAU, Tennessee, Ole Miss, West Virginia and Kansas in his final list. He has a pending late August commitment date planned so don't think he'll be on the board too much longer.

I added Mississippi TE Jalen Shead to the board after the Hogs offered and made his top 10

I added an intriguing offensive line prospect who the Hogs just offered, Armon Bethea, a "2-star" out of New York who also has offers from Georgia Tech, Pitt, Kansas, Louisville, WVU and more. He's 6-6 and has weighed in from 310-320. He's clearly underrated due to his recruiting area. I moved Arkansas's target OL additions from 3-4 to 4-5 after what Remington Strickland told me. It makes sense because they're continuing to recruit the position hard (and obviously still offering). Of all the positions, there are more offensive line targets left undecided than any other group. There are roughly 19 undecided linemen offers, 17 undecided defensive backs and 14 undecided WRs.

I added former Mesa College, current Iowa Central DE Alex Lemon to the board despite his continued commitment to Oregon State. He told reporters that Oregon State has stopped keeping up with him so his recruitment is essentially open. Now that the JUCO season has been moved and he's graduating in December, I expect he won't make too long to make a decision between his other newer offers like Arkansas and Auburn, unless he really wants to visit before making a new commitment.

Nothing really new from the LB or DB group since last week so that's about it!

Baseball Commitment Scouting Report: Texas 2022 SS Jayson Jones

I tentatively have an interview with Jayson tomorrow morning and I'll talk to him about his decision process and everything, but for you DEFINITELY want to read this scouting report on him. He's a top-10 recruit - which is rare even for Arkansas - and I talked to his high school coach, who happens to be a former DI head coach: https://arkansas.rivals.com/news/commitment-scouting-report-texas-2022-ss-jayson-jones

Football How about this scenario?

**DISCLAIMER: I know that there's a chance the football season won't happen this fall. I know the SEC could go to a conference-only schedule. I know there have been talks of an SEC/ACC/Big 12 alliance in order to preserve games like Georgia/Georgia Tech, Kentucky/Louisville, South Carolina/Clemson, etc.

That said, follow me down this wormhole... The Big Ten has already gone to a conference-only schedule, eliminating Arkansas State's game at Michigan on Sept. 19. I just saw on Twitter where the MEAC - an FCS conference comprised of HBCUs - is expected to not play football this fall. That means Arkansas State's game against Howard (scheduled for Sept. 12) would be canceled.

If the SEC allows non-conference games and something happens to the Notre Dame game scheduled for Sept. 12 - Maybe the Fighting Irish push the season back? Maybe they completely alter their schedule to play an ACC slate? Maybe the SEC asks its programs to regionalize their schedules? - then that could potentially open the door for an Arkansas-Arkansas State matchup this season. It's kinda comical that it took a global pandemic for this to even become a possibility, but I have heard from the Arkansas State side of things that they'd be interested in that - but duh, of course they would. Haha.

Idk, just something to ponder. I know this is a hot topic and there are a lot of people on both sides of it, but if there were ever a year when it might actually make sense, this would be it.
