The Rundown

Practice officially began at approximately 10:10 a.m. CT and we walked out around noon. We watched individual drills and then made our way into the stands to watch the scrimmage, which featured the first and second team offenses and defenses working on plenty of situational drives and such.

Regarding the order of appearance

With it being a scrimmage format, we saw just the first and second team groups with substitutions rotating in and out as it was a real game.

There remains movement on the right side of the offensive line, as E'Marion Harris started at right tackle and Keyshawn Blackstock started at right guard Saturday. We did, however, see Shaq McRoy work in at first team right tackle and Harris moved to right guard some. Caden Kitler was notably the starting center for most, if not all, of Saturday.

The offensive tackles seemed to have some trouble Saturday, as Taylen Green was often pushed out of the pocket and there were a handful of plays blown dead for sacks with a handful more that probably could've also been blown dead.

Oklahoma transfer Kani Walker continues to get work at first team corner since his return from injury. We also saw David Oke work in as an edge rusher with the 3-3-5 look on the starting defense, and Charlie Collins also got up with the first team defense a few times. Eastern Michigan transfer Quentavius Scandrett also got a look at first team safety.

Kickers have a bad day

Most of the drives ended with a field goal attempt or two, and it was a rough showing from the kickers. Highly-touted freshman Scott Starzyk was just 2-for-6 with his makes from 23 and 36 yards and misses from 46, 52, 47 and 43 yards. Blake Ford, a redshirt junior, hit from 36, 43 and 54 and he missed from 42 yards. Redshirt freshman Charlie Von Der Meden missed from 39 yards out.
