Oaklawn Park, Friday

Welcome to the first day of Horse Racing, 2021.....
You can tell it's Oaklawn Park's season just by the traffic in Hot Springs, everyone is in a hurry, other drivers cut you off and never look your way to nod a thank you, it's
more or less expected during the racing season. many folks come to the races just to enjoy watching the people during this fast pace time of the year, they're sort of "hooked" on horse racing and they love it.
I'll do my best to have some "pick's" later today BUT before the first race, there's. just not that much info about them early, after today info will be privy to all of us....
Lot's and lot's of names you see every year, many travel from state to state, they may take some time off to go to the home place and do all the rat killing, then it's back to the track and everyday action. Looking this week at who all is back from times past, it's virtually the same crew as last year as in many years ago, while it's not for everyone, the ones that do it, love it.

Pearl After the Loss (My Favorite)

Not sure why "hitthatline" pretended like it was their video...they stole it from the Auburn University media...but this was the only one I could find on YouTube for an easy embedding.

Pearl made a good comment about Cooper on the last drive for them. No idea why he didn't press the ball quickly. Could have easily have gotten an and one and I would not have like our team in a last second shot situation.

Williams, Devo and Desi

They really turned this thing around last night. And Willaims and Devo deserve to continue playing A LOT.

And man it’s like someone just flipped a switch on Desi who was ATTACKING a that racck. Clamping the D on the Auburn hot shot freshman, along with Devo. Welcome back Desi !!!

[ BTW Muss and the coaches had Great second half plan... welcome back coaches]

on a night that Moody was silent until that drive and dunk, it was refreshing to see some of the guys get that swagger back. And speaking of swaggers, that behind the back dribble move down the lane by J Will absolutely stunned me. The quickness and BALLS he showed there.. wow. He is agoona be a really really good one.

And Devo, fearless. Yes when we had to have play point , he got wobbly, but the dude balled out last bright.

oh, and welcome back Mr Smith.

Great win for our Hogs !!!!!

Hoops RECAP: Hogs overcome 19-point deficit, hang on to beat Auburn (includes full box score)

Here's how it unfolded tonight, complete with thoughts from Muss, a full box score, postgame interviews and highlights courtesy @WarMachine2013...

Hogs vs. Auburn- Battle of Arkansas kids

Loved seeing the Flanigan kid have bad game. I hold no ill will but don't have a lot of love for that family.

Briefly, i thought that J Franklin was going to have a career game and dream ending. He's the one i like the most and wanted him to be a Hog. Those two threes he hit made me think that this is going to be his night. A bit shocked he only played 11 minutes. 8pt, 4 boards and a block.

Chris Moore- had his ish blocked at least twice and got a little shove from Desi. I loved it. Desi is tough as nails

Hog Arkansans 46 Auburn Arkansans 18 and we beat dat ass twice.

Hopefully it helps with the instate Kids Pearl and Flanigan are going after.

JWill's put back one handed dunk was my favorite play of the game.

Baseball POLL: Would you be interested?

This is something I've thought about for a while now and isn't something I'd be able to do for 2021, obviously, but definitely something I'd like to do in the future.

What I'm envisioning is a preseason SEC baseball magazine, similar to what Hooten's does for HS football in Arkansas, Phil Steele does for college football, etc. ... I'd coordinate with some of the other Rivals sites to have previews, projected lineups/rotations and stuff like that on all 14 SEC teams. We could have a preseason All-SEC, top incoming freshmen, top pro prospects, top transfers and other stories on major storylines entering that particular season.

I've already been in touch with the Vandy site's writer about some content like that for this season, but it'll just be on the site. The more I think about it, though, the more I feel a preview magazine is possible. It'd take quite a bit of work and I don't even know where to begin, but - as attendance shows - college baseball is huge in the SEC and I don't think such a product exists.

So what do you think? Would you pay ~$15 for such a product?

Better effort, but plenty to work on

Played a lot better last night. There was effort and energy for most of the game but not the entire games. The first 18 minutes were brutal and the last 22 were pretty solid. Still plenty of concerns but hoping they can ride the momentum of those last 22 minutes to get some stuff figured out. Really need to cut down on turnovers, especially at the point guard position. Tate and Davis combined for 8 of the team’s 16 turnovers. Sills added 1 and Notae and Moody had two a piece, with your five guards combining for 13 turnovers with a negative assist to turnover ratio. Transition offense still needs a lot of work, and breaking presses in general. I think guys have played out of position most of the year and now they’re finally playing where they’re supposed to but are uncomfortable. Jaylin Williams is a huge boost. His game is perfect for the NBA. Talent isn’t there for him yet but he’ll be an NBA player. Another poor outside shooting performance, and I think that just comes down to confidence at this point. Auburn blocked nine shots, a lot of which came from Arkansas over-penetrating and shooting contested layups. Ball moved much more quickly around the perimeter in the second half to open up driving and cutting lanes. Desi and Moses even beat guys off the dribble a few times, which is something no one has done consistently. Moving forward, you almost have to play a shorter rotation, but fatigue and foul trouble are two potential areas that might hurt. Tate fouled out and Devo had four fouls last night. Hopefully the game is on Saturday and they can carry the momentum from this win and get back to even in conference and right the ship. Vandy won’t be a cake walk. They have some legit pieces, but it’s a game we should win.

FB Recruiting Indianapolis DE talks Arkansas offer

Connected with Indianapolis 2022 DE Popeye Williams this week, wanted to see where he was recruiting-wise. At this point he's still sitting back, collecting offers, in no real rush to make a decision, so we talked about his most recent offer, which came from Arkansas right at the end of November. Williams talks below about how that offer came about and the development of his relationship with the Razorbacks' staff:
