OU's Season Ticket Holder/Capacity Plan - COVID Edition

May be something that we see from the Hogs soon enough:

OU is like us and set at 25% capacity. Their season ticket holder numbers are double ours and their capacity isn't much different.. there will be some mad donors that don't get in. Maybe the ability to cancel/refund tickets for the year will help not throw salt into the wound? Can see Hogs doing something similar. If they don't, they will have to get creative on how they plan to appease the masses of ticket holders this year.

OU has sent the following message to their season ticket holders, allowing them to opt out of this season without losing status. What will the Hogs do?

"Over the last three weeks various conferences have announced changes to their 2020 football schedules, including the Southeastern Conference. At this time the Tennessee game is the only game affected, but further changes to OU’s 2020 football schedule may occur. The Big 12 Conference has yet to announce any finalized decisions to the current schedule; we will communicate additional information as it becomes available.

As we’ve continuously aimed to serve our Sooner Club members and season ticket holders in the best possible way, we will work in good faith to allow you the opportunity to reallocate any unused funds made for ticket and/or donation payments once the updated 2020 schedule has been finalized. With various decisions still to be determined for OU Athletics, additional information will be shared next week to allow you to make an informed decision.

Season ticket holders who do not feel comfortable attending games due to the COVID-19 pandemic will have the opportunity to opt out of the 2020 season without losing any future seating priority. In addition, seating locations being saved for the 2021 renewal period. Those who wish to opt out will have the same options to reallocate their unused funds as outlined for season ticket holders who wish to receive tickets for 2020 in the new scheduling format. You will have an opportunity to make this decision next week.

Ways You Can Reallocate Your Unused Ticket and/or Donation Payments

  • Donate to the Sooner Relief Fund
  • Transfer Payments to 2021
  • Request a Refund as an Exception to Our Refund Policy
These options will be made available to you once the 2020 schedule has been finalized."

25% Capacity - How will that work?

Sorry if it’s already been discussed, there have been a lot of threads to keep up with today.

I’m wondering how 25% capacity will work? Is that 25% going to be whoever can pay the most? What about season ticket holders? Will they cycle and certain ticket holders only get to go to certain games?

Not that we were pulling much more than 25% capacity last year, but it seems like a nightmare. First come first serve might be the answer.

My thoughts

Here are some thoughts I have in response to today’s news.

1) Notre Dame - If we can replace them with a more winnable SEC foe then great. If we replace them with Georgia or Florida, this sucked. Honestly didn’t care about playing Notre Dame at all this year given our recent struggles.

2) Texas A&M/Mizzou - If these games are going to be played at their home stadiums then there must be a clause that forces both of them to come to Arkansas next season. If that doesn’t happen then Yuracheck failed and got punked.

3) 10 SEC games - I am hopeful after listening to Yuracheck that he will not sit back and let us walking into a situation where we end up with two of the best teams in the East. That would be deflating before the season ever started. If strength of schedule truly matters then Arkansas should at least get a Vandy or Sout Carolina matchup out of this deal, if not both. I doubt it will be both since Yuracheck is already preparing fans for us to play a team comparable to Notre Dame. If that’s Florida or Georgia then that’s a raw deal.

4) Schedule Start time - A little later than I expected but it helps a new coaching staff like ours get the offense and defense installed along with establishing a more accurate depth chart. This is especially helpful considering we lost out on our Spring.

5) Overall - While I would have preferred a week earlier start with one non conference game against a weak opponent to give us a chance to work out some kinks, I’m okay with what they come up with. Should be a interesting year especially since expectations are really low and that’s normally when Arkansas pulls out something unexpected. (Especially since Chad Morris is not coaching them now)

Political Thread... It was fun, might be one more later.

Press Release (7/27/2020):
Trump Patriotic Boat Parade
As the waters of Lake Hamilton began to fill with boats from across the country, it was clear an unprecedented event grew beyond all expectations, in what can only be described as the single largest boat parade in Arkansas. With over 1200 participating vessels, supporters of our current president, Donald J Trump, enthusiastically waved american flags, honked horns and cheered in support of his re-election coming this November. Boats donned flags, docks were decorated by homeowners, people crowded the overpasses at all three bridges and business boomed as the supporters flocked to the Spa City for this highly successful event.
Several street side businesses popped up selling Trump paraphernalia, some having to briefly close to restock their sold out merchandise. Hotels were packed, restaurants were at capacity and the injection of revenue into Hot Springs, without a doubt, helped boost what some say has been a lagging economy.
Organizers of the event, Scott and Shari Bales of Hot Springs, said they did not anticipate such a response.
"We are truly humbled by the tremendous turnout for an event that was initially supposed to involve a small group of friends. It took on a life of its own and once people started sharing across the country it was evident we had our hands full. Fortunately friends like Brett Hacker of Nashville TN, Scott Brake of Hot Springs, Greg Igbokidi of Hot Springs, Karen Boyd of Hot Springs and countless other supporters stepped up to help take on the challenge." Shari Bales stated when asked about the event.
Donna Brinkley, of Conway summed it up by saying, "What an amazing day! Seeing all of the Patriotism, the support for our great leader, the National Anthem, the flags, the American spirit we have grown up with, and the love for our great nation! It was so encouraging, refreshing and moving to experience this amazing day. Thank you, thank you Shari and Scott Bales and ALL who organized this awesome celebration. Thank you for reminding us of WHO WE ARE and WHAT WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT!!! God bless you and GOD BLESS AMERICA! "

SEC to move to 10 game All-Conference Schedule?

Will post more as I hear it, but plan as of now:

Arkansas to play conference schedule as it stands (8 games) plus Florida and South Carolina. A&M game will be played at A&M this year, A&M will make trip to Arkansas next year, then the game will return to Jerry World for the following seasons.

2 new games will be split home and away. South Carolina being the away game, Florida coming here.

We can quote this when it comes out this afternoon after the conference committee meeting.

OT A little help please

Any of you goons have any remedy’s that kills, catches or keeps flies away?

The flies have become absolutely unbearable on my back porch. I have a small dog and children to keep in mind as well.

The bug man came and sprayed a month ago and I think they have gotten worse since then. I’ve tried bags with water and penny’s. I’ve tried bowls of sugar water with plastic and holes on top.. Nothing I have found works.

I live in a condo connected to 3 other units, they all have pets yet none have a fly problem. Our back porches are less than 30 feet away from each other, and the dog poops far away from the porch that it shouldn’t be the problem..

Athlon: SEC Wild Card Players in 2020

Arkansas Razorbacks

Offense: Feleipe Franks, QB
Yes, you know the name. And yes, he's still in the SEC. But now the 6-foot-6, 235-pound strong-arm is a Razorback, not a Gator. The quarterback position was a mess last season, with five different starting QBs and not one of them being very effective. Franks started 25 games for Florida from 2017 to '19, and his SEC experience will be a boon to this offense, which returns most of the skill position players.

Defense: Xavier Kelly, DT
The Hogs up front weren't very Hog-like last season, and three of the four starters have moved on. That's why Kelly, a transfer from Clemson, becomes such a huge addition to the defense this season. The former Kansas High School Player of the Year had a star-crossed career in Death Valley and has yet to tap into his sizable ability. The line will also have senior end Dorian Gerald returning after he miss all but one game a year ago.
