More Bret talk

We are down at fort Walton for the week. Buddy of mine is staying at Navarre beach which just so happens is where Roy Segrest is at. Nothing ground breaking here just more of what previous coaches under Bret felt.

Buddy is a hog fan but doesn’t follow recruiting , coaching , or any of the rumors that come with it . Met up with him yesterday and he brought up meeting Segrest on the beach and talking to him. Said Segrest told him he hated coaching under Bret and while he liked the town it just put a bad taste in his mouth because of the coach. Said the drinking was a bigger problem than most knew about. Buddy said he told me a story about a big time lineman that was choosing between us and Stanford ( we all know who) . Said Bret got so drunk before the in home visit that when they got there he passed out on the couch. I said yea that’s been a story that’s been going around for a long while. Said Segrest told him he would never under and circumstances work for Bret again. Said coaches would come to him with different recruits that wanted to come to Arkansas and Bret would turn them away for who he wanted. Said a lot of the guys ended up going to bigger schools and being really good players. Said they had to carry him out of multiple places because he was drunk.

The only positive he said was he spoke very highly of Pittman. Didn’t really go into detail of what Segrest said just said we have a good coach.

Any feedback on this internet service?

Would be great to hear from those who may have switched to it from Cox.

Moving soon and not sure of all providers in the area just yet.

Right now I’m getting like 250 MB/S.

We stream YouTubeTV and I work from home with an Ethernet cable in my laptop so WiFi and internet speeds are super good and consistent.

FB Recruiting HawgBeat Big Board Notebook: June 29, 2020

https://arkansas.rivals.com/news/hawgbeat-2021-target-big-board

The Razorbacks lost a DB target (Tyler Hibbler) but gained a WR commitment this past week. Hibbler was predicted to homestate Missouri for a while so no surprise there despite the Hogs getting him to visit and a solid relationship with Sam Carter.

Arkansas landed Oklahoma WR transfer Jaquayln Crawford in case you missed it on Friday. The former Rockdale standout will join the Hogs this season but won't be eligible until 2021. He's now considered a 2021 addition for Stepp which means there's really just one WR spot left for the class and we all know who the Razorbacks want that to be... Rivals250 Texas WR KeTron Jackson. My pick from March is still in for Jackson to Arkansas but the battle is still far from won.

After talking to Chase Lowery and John Howse last week, I've added them both to the DB target board. They weren't the only DBs Arkansas offered last week though. They also offered Isiah Cox from Tennessee, I just haven't caught up with him yet. The Hogs are getting in the mix for a lot of defensive backs, which is good considering how they've been dropping off the board over the past few months. I've also added Andrew Mukuba back to the board after he said he'll at least visit Arkansas, though there's very stiff in-state competition for him. Can't forget Dreyden Norwood in all of this as well.

Unless I hear solid intel that a guy is considering a decommitment, I probably won't add him to the board. This is in reference to the Missouri DB commit Daylan Carnell that Arkansas offered this weekend.

Would still like to see some more movement on defensive line targets but all eyes are on DT Cameron Ball who I mentioned last week is doing his upmost to hold out his commitment until he can get to Fayetteville and check it out.

After my conversation with Chris "Pooh" Paul, I've added him to the LB target board. The Hogs also offered another Georgia LB last week, Ese Dubre, but I haven't caught up with him yet. Their offer lists are similar but Paul's is a bit more impressive.

After Paul's offer and hearing his reaction, I'm going to go ahead and put in a FutureCast pick for him to the Razorbacks. Could happen soon if this tweet is what I think it's about:

Changes are commitments to the good guys by QB Lucas Coley, RB AJ Green, WR's Jaedon Wilson and Rocket Sanders, and OT Devon Manuel. Also commitments to other schools by WR Demetrius Cannon (Louisville), LB Joko Willis (Kentucky), and DB's Tyler Hibbler (Missour) and Jayden Johnson (South Carolina). I replaced Willis with Pooh Paul from GA. The addition of transfer WR Jaquayln Crawford pretty much makes WR recruiting Ketron or bust for this year unless another name pops up later in the cycle. Not taking that WR does create an opening for another TE and Errington McCray is a very talented kid we could take late. Replaced Torey Phillips with Tyas Martin as he's a better prospect in my opinion and a kid that would also help in recruiting a lot. With the commitments of some DBs my guess for those slots are the newly offered John Howse and adding Sirad Bryant, Auburn DE Big Kat Bryant's younger brother, which fit's the recruiting mold of length in the secondary. Mainly adding Bryant back because he's HS Teammates with Pooh Paul.
