Need to keep getting bigger & stronger in the trenches

Love the size Pitt is recruiting, we looked small on the field compared to the traditional top teams (bama, a&m, Ga, LSU) it was obvious on film (even with TN, AU, and FL)

DT ‘21 Williams 6’3 295, Ball 6’5 302
(i think they may keep wright small to play end some because of quickness)
DT ‘20 Boykin 6’4 314
DT ‘19 Miller 6’5 310 (Jackson and Carter undersized)
That’s an average 6’4 305

OL ‘21 Manual 6’8 310, Carson 6’6 285, Wells 6’5 306 Avg 6’6 300
OL ‘20 curry 6’5 320, Henderson 6’5 285, st John 6’5 359 (st John needs to be lower) Avg 6’5 321
That’s a total average 6’5.5 310

Other OL that came in previous years (besides Cunningham, Gatlin, Wagner who looked the part on height and weight) were very undersized coming in 6’2 -6-5 & 260-280
I wonder framewise, how much more can some of them carry and still be effective

Media and Signing Day (Early vs Late)

I was looking at all the players who signed today with SEC schools and look at how Arkansas’ class took shape today and all of ours signed and we are full.

However, ESPN and the SEC Network hasn’t really shifted to the early signing period be the main day.

I could see Arkansas in February being like naw we are good, we don’t need to rehash what we went over on December 16th....

If this a trend, media should shift. But it could be just another aspect of the pandemic with visits not as likely this year.

Recruiting Question and Pittman (has there ever?)

Has there been a D1 Power 5 School that didn't lose a single commitment on signing day that had more than 20 signees? Seriously... today was incredible.

While many may enjoy the drama, I for one was extremely grateful for the reduced amount of stress on signing day. What does this say of the type of person Sam Pittman and his staff are that when he took commitments (sight un-seen no less) to have young men that never wavered! (One QB exception but totally understandable with 2 QB's committed in the same class - even if he does move to TE)? Listening to the interview of most of these young men doesn't do anything but bring hope and excitement to what could be for the foundation of the future of Hog football.

Even more so, can you say enough about how he has guided this team through this COVID football season? While we were livid when the new schedule was announced, he never wavered in his commitment to improve and prove that Arkansas was no longer a "gimme" with the exception of Alabama. He could have cried foul like most of us did but he made his players believe that they would thrive through the adversity.

He never gave us a black eye (no pun intended) in the middle of the racial tension that was brewing across the country. He stood up for his players and never said or did anything that would make Arkansas look, well...like Arkansas!

While Sam may not be the flash he is certainly the substance. I would not have wished this season on any coach but he has handled it with incredible grace and excellence.

"he is a hero, not the hero we deserved but the hero we needed" - THANK YOU SAM PITTMAN FOR BELIEVING IN ARKANSAS AND LEADING SO WELL!

FB Recruiting What do you think of this class (pre-signing day)

As it stands now, here are the SEC rankings:
rankings.jpeg
rankings .jpeg

and the national rankings: https://n.rivals.com/team_rankings/2021/all-teams/football

Arkansas's class finishes since 2012 (not including 2018, 2020): 34, 27, 29, 25, 30, 24, 20 AVERAGE: 27

When the dust settles I think the Hogs finish right around that average. Given the circumstances of this year, are you satisfied with the class or will happiness depend on signing day wins?

Art Briles to Texas Tech?

Read that Art could potentially get hired at TTU? There has been a growing amount of support, especially after an independent law firm concluded that Briles knew nothing about the sexual assault at Baylor. That report was sent to the hot shots that make decisions at TTU, and they are expecting to at least kick the tires on it.

If that happens do you guys think we will lose Kendal?

Nikki - Keaontay Ingram?

Any news on the possibility of him being a target? I understand that they have two commits plus Johnson and Smith coming back but they couldn't pass up on a RB that caliber could they? A 6ft 225lb true three down RB and best of all over 400 touches at UT with zero fumbles before this year. The fit makes perfect sense in my eyes. Hogs recruited him hard out of high school.

FB Recruiting HawgBeat 2021 Big Board Update: Dec. 1, 2020

BIG BOARD UPDATE: https://arkansas.rivals.com/news/hawgbeat-2021-target-big-board

It's DECEMBER 1 yall. For the fourth year now that means it's officially EARLY signing month! The early signing period runs from the 16th through the 18th. Here's what Pittman said yesterday:

"I think any time you have an early signing date and obviously you like who you have or you wouldn’t have accepted their commitment, it’s big to get (the signature) early. It’s big to get it in December. Once you get them on the dotted line, you can go for, ‘Well, are we going to save some of these for some transfers? Are we going to continue to chase after another position? You know what I mean? Another guy at the same position. We obviously like who we have. And so we hope, like I’m sure everybody who has commitments, that they will sign on Dec. 16. We’re certainly hoping we can get that class figured out. And then we potentially have several guys coming in January and that would be huge for spring ball, assuming we’ll be able to have spring ball."

The players I have gearing up to enroll early are: Lucas Coley, Ketron Jackson, Javion Hunt, Raheim Sanders, Jaedon Wilson, Marco Avant, Chris Paul, Jermaine Hamilton-Jordan and Jayden Johnson. Bryce Stephens was hoping he could make it early but doesn't sound like he will.

The Razorbacks' 2021 class is currently 21st in the nation with 20 commits. SEC teams in front are 1. Bama, 4. LSU, 6. Georgia, 7. Florida, 11. Tennessee, 15. A&M, 19. Mizzou. Missouri is the big surprise as they've finished 54, 34, 39 and 49 the past four cycles. They have four 4-stars committed when they only had 4 total over the last 4 years. Auburn, Ole Miss and South Carolina are going to have A LOT of work to do between now and late signing as they have just 12, 15 and 10 commits in their classes, respectively.

It looks to me like Arkansas will finish top 30 at least but really hard to tell where in that range they'll fall when all the dust settles because all the schools behind them are waiting on a commitment or two or three as well and if the Hogs finish the class with mostly grad transfers, then they won't get any further boost besides......

Cameron Ball, DT from Georgia, is the only prospect I'm really waiting on to join the class between now and the end of the signing period (his announcement is at 11 am (our time) on the 16th). He's really between Arkansas and Georgia Tech but I think the Hogs have already won out. He was planning to wait to sign late but I think he was convinced otherwise.

If Ball joins the class as planned on the 16th then (with Jaqualyn Crawford and George Caratan counting against the 25 total) there's room for just two more, which I would imagine they keep for grad transfer additions. There are several JUCO targets still on the board but since they didn't have a season, the staff's probably thinking a transfer is a safer bet. They're already over the 85-total (86 with Jayden Johnson's commitment) but if you assume some of the guys that opted out don't return to the team then they'll be perfectly fine fitting in their additions up to 25.

Given the national situation, I'd say it's a pretty nice class. Not star-studded but you can tell there will be quite a few contributors, I'd say more than last year's class but there's still a lot unknown about them and how they're doing since we can't see practice.

Rivals rankings update this week so stay tuned for any bumps/drops, etc!
